The minors has felt rough this year. And high profile poor performers. But I noticed a lot of the guys with average performances so far are pretty young for their levels. So I'm less disappointed than I expected I guess. So many strikeouts though. Players with an A rating are performing at a level that could encourage immediate promotion:
Davis -- A+ [TL agree]
Peguero -- A+ [agree]
Mitchell -- A [agree, but who cares, corner OF only, does not have power, so you are maxing out as a platoon bat]
Suwinski -- A [see Mitchell]
l. sanchez -- A [disagree, he sucks]
gorski -- A (old for level) [I think I agree, he's not a prospect]
e. rodriguez -- B [may bump him to a B+, I think his bat is going to play]
bae -- B [meh, slap hitting second baseman, no ceiling]
martin -- B [ he has power and is progressing]
lopez -- B [aggressive placement, he is holding his own]
scott -- B [hot start, but back to earth]
head -- B [no thoughts, seems like he is progressing a bit]
njigba -- B [C for me, dude looks like a dud, he needs to hit]
castro -- B
sabol -- B [meh]
triolo -- C [meh]
swaggerty -- D [he sucks]
cruz -- D [discouraging to say the least]
n. gonzales -- D [probably the worst system performance against expectations, thought he was going to be an anchor, now best case is that he is a guy that holds a roster spot]
siani -- D [scrub, who cares]
frazier -- F [not surprised, it's always a bad sign when your biggest advocate is a Pirate twitter booster guy that thinks he's a scout]

I don't feel like Martin is progressing too well with those ks. Mitchell always had the swing for power i think and his bat is looking hot this year. Over .200 iso and great k rate. Everything else yeah

Went 3-4 tonight. ****This guy has become worth a mention. 44 hits in 104ab. 12 doubles, triple, 6HR, 11bb/18k. 423/500/731/1.231
Second Round Pick (Giants) 3B, R/R, 6'3 190lb Jacob Gonzalez. Did most of that damage in A ball at 23y/o. Moved up to A+ the other day and has started 9-15 600/647/1.200/1.847
He'll be 24 next month. Get up to AA for a successful 80ab this year and he'll be rising like Fraizer did last year.

I don't think we should ever care what a 24 year old is doing in A ball.

First look at one of the prep prospects from the 2021 draft. For a refresher, the pirates took Davis over Mayer and leiter, signed Davis under slot, used the extra money to sign Chandler, Solemeto, and white. The trajectory of these prospects is important in a few ways. First, to validate BC’s strategy and scouting department (did they target the right guys to throw money at), second, throwing money at kids in the draft to forgo college is the best way to add value to the system for only money. It’s part art and part science, you have to both scout and find guys that will sign, NH could scout right, but wasn’t good at the signing part.

To me the biggest hurdle will be the development. Davis is flying through the system, but maybe he's just that talented. We'll know more about these HS "studs" in a couple years. Will the Pirates be able to turn that talent into something?

Davis gets HBP a lot, on top of the normal hit by foul balls etc as a catcher. That's why he's been sitting the last few games for the Curve, fwiw.

This is where I'm at as well. I see absolutely zero reason or evidence to have faith in their development at this point. To me the biggest hurdle will be the development. Headline: Brubaker with career high 10 K's.
Me: "Good for him. Wonder how much they won by."
*checks box score*
Me: "7-0 Cubs?"

I didn't watch, but Vogelbach hit a triple (first career!) and was thrown out at home plate on a bad send by the third base coach. He tossed the catcher's mask away (as he'd fell on it), and Contreras took exception...and there was a scuffle.
But the runs were given up because Chavis dropped a popup and Castro made a throwing error. All of these utility players playing all over the field and not getting comfortable in one or two positions. Chavis blamed not knowing the rest of the infield well enough to know tendencies etc. So lame.

In the past, Chavis has pissed and moaned about how it's hard to perform without regularly scheduled playing time. Starting to seem like he is a whiny beotch.

Wil Crowe gets the start tonight in place of Mid Keller. I would imagine Mid will pitch out of the bullpen after the third inning or so.
Also, tonight's game is on YouTube for some reason.
