Baseball Reference tells me he's played CF 12 games, LF 5 games, 2B 40 games. So idk about primarily, but at least him in the OF is an option it seems

Hmm. MILB showed nothing going on at 2B. Either liars or shitty internet.Baseball Reference tells me he's played CF 12 games, LF 5 games, 2B 40 games. So idk about primarily, but at least him in the OF is an option it seems

This is what prompted that post. I didn't realize how good Bae has been
Doesn't hit home runs, not interested.

jk but he has 7 in 64 games as a 22 year old? I'm not sure your post is a true statement

I was referring to the disappointment I've seen here and elsewhere that Hayes isn't hitting more out of the park.

Bae is yet either left handed hitter. Bizarre that they have so few skilled prospects that hit righty.

I think power will come from Hayes. If not, he's still so valuable with his defense and contact alone. Would like to see the K numbers decrease a little, but I guess that's baseball today

I think for the next 3-5 years they are going to be an org that gets plucked from on a bunch. That said, not sure how many guys will actually hang on after being drafted, and guys that do will probably just be bit players. Do have to say that it’s encouraging that they selected suwinski ahead of Mitchell and Martin last fall, he’s clearly the best of that group. So I know these things just have a tendency to work themselves out anyway. But in the next two years, 4 of the Pirates bigger prospects should be up and all play middle infield
Cruz
Piguero
Gonzales
Bae
OF seems to be in a good spot with Reynolds and Suwinski, so I suppose a spot is open there for one of them if needed. But I guess we're getting close to the point of the prospect crunch TL has mentioned coming to fruition. Hopefully they all keep developing and turn into valuable pieces. We need pitching imo and being able to flip one for a similar level starter would be nice

He's a little guy. Little guys need prolific bat speed (like mccutchen) to hit dingers. Hayes has a good enough bat, but no one would call that prolific bat speedI think power will come from Hayes. If not, he's still so valuable with his defense and contact alone. Would like to see the K numbers decrease a little, but I guess that's baseball today

Martin has been dookie latelyBae is looking pretty studly gotta say. Only 22 still.
224 13double 4trip 6hr 25bb 43k 15sb 6cs .304 .373 .478 .851
Martin needs another year in AAA. He didn't even do that well in AA last year. He could take a big step still as he just turned 23.

i see that
Can't imagine bae has much of an arm for the outfield. Not looking like suwinski does either. Or Mitchell. Or anyone huh

Maybe not quite 300. Who hits 300 these days? I see his offensive production topping out at one notch below starling marte. One notch below marte is still good. Franchise cornerstone good? What do you attribute this to? Emphasis on hr's? The shift? Better pitching?

Found the handy google doc that one of the pirate prospects writers keeps with the Rule V info.
They still have a bunch of guys that were previously eligible that are hanging around and can get plucked if they don't add them this offseason.
Previously available -
Osvaldo Bido - SP prospect currently doing okay in AAA. Would not be a huge loss
Lolo Sanchez - don't care, go away
Cristofer Melendez - AAA RP prospect, still young, and doing pretty well this year
Santiago Florez - don't care
Abrahan Gutierrez - C prospect they got at the last deadline. meh
(1) Noe Toribio - 22 SP prospect, just got promoted to AAA, need to add him
Travis MacGregor - former 2nd round pick that is still hanging around after lots of injuries he can go.
Newly available (counting the guys from last year when there wasn't a draft)
(2) Cody Bolton - coming back well from injury, a must add
Omar Cruz - meh
Mason Martin - not sure, will need all the time in 2022 to the call
Luis Peralta - Live arm prospect, probably no need to make the move this year
Tahnaj Thomas and Eddie Yean - both in the same boat for me, live arms that a crap team might want to stash in their bullpen, but not picking either of them over more important keeps
(3) Ji-Hwan Bae - probably gets promoted in season, so a must add
(4) Michael Burrows - must add
Joelvis Del Rosario - same deal as Luis Peralta
Maikol Escotto - they can put this decision off for sure
Yoyner Fajardo - I think he's another Pablo Reyes, not sure the ceiling is there to care enough to add
Matt Frazier - bombed enough that I think he's safe
Matt Gorski & Blake Sabol - former college draft picks, both hitting this year, tough call
Juan Jerez, Rodolfo Nolasco, Dariel Lopez, Alexander Mojica - See Escotto
Carlos Jimenez - really young, but in the same boat as Luis Peralta
Endy Rodriguez - tough call, can probably stash at least one more year
Conner Scott - another guy that they don't need to make a call on this year, but was a BC trade acquisition, and he seems to favor his guys
So seeing at least 4 must adds this year, a bunch of older prospects that could get picked, but wouldn't be concerning losses. But a whole bunch of both young hitters and pitchers that they have to kick the can down the road on. The current 2023 list is long, but only the two big names standing out (Priester and Gonzalez), but that of course can change as these young guys move up levels.

Looks right. Good 4. Not sure what Toribio's stuff is like but great age/ performance
I like macgregor. See how the season ends for him
Jimenez and Endy Rod still highly valued out of the rest

Good news is that 40 man roster is chalk full of crap.

This is true, while with injuries, the 40-man is at 49, they can drop 20 guys without blinking. Unfortunately at least 3-4 of those are bullpen guys that need to be replaced and 2 are catchers that also need bodies at the MLB level. So adding 4 guys this offseason is not an issue.Good news is that 40 man roster is chalk full of crap.
I think here though, does a team wanting to take a flier on Matt Gorski mean that the Pirates have to put said flier guy on the roster. Would it be a big deal for the org to have another Chris Shelton situation?
But, like most things, it depends. If they want to have another audition season in 2023, they better not leave these guys exposed (the older ones) to then roster veteran journeymen for 25-man bodies. But, if they are adding legit complementary pieces this offseason, then yeah, who cares about Matt Gorski
