Charlie can come at me. He hit like his son. I’m not afraid. Might as well stick Jordy Mercer at 3B. Who gives a **** about defense in a sport that no longer sees the ball hit into the field of play.

Lost in that disaster of a game was the fact that Roansy threw 41 pitches in the second inning…and didn’t even get out of the inning. He got rewarded with a trip to Indy. Same with RoansyThat reminds me. Is there any update on Cam Vieux? Is he still in the ICU? Did DK’s thoughts and prayers and dodinting and moaning and sensationalism help him pull through the tragedy of throwing a ball too many times?

Pirates on pace for 95 losses through 83 games. Can they dig deep, look inside themselves, and find a way to lose 100 games?

Certainly, not even at the dog days portion of the calendar yet.

They'll give as much playing time as necessary to VanMeter to make that happen.Pirates on pace for 95 losses through 83 games. Can they dig deep, look inside themselves, and find a way to lose 100 games?

The only thing that stands in their way is the Reds.

Jon drekker at pirates prospects said something about that guy too. He’s a catcher who’s glove was ahead of schedule at his age. So definitely a guy to keep an eye on. And the good thing about drekker is that he doesn’t pretend to be a scout, he just talks to scouts and coaches in the organization and reports what they say. What a novel concept, right?

I'm behind on the game but did anyone else see that fan try to snag the ball with his left hand with a beer in his right hand?

I know throw speed isn't indicative of overall defense skill, but Cruz has made some very sharp fielding plays throughout his tenure at SS on the big club.
But the Pirates were hellbent on him going out into the OF? Afraid of holding down Kevin Newman? Bizarre.
Still have a .180 hitter as DH some days, too. This team.

Every time I see Yoshi Tsunami's name in the lineup, I am flabbergasted. What at all do the Pirates see in him? Is it really a case of needing a warm body? Are there not any warmer bodies on the waiver wire?
And batting cleanup to boot!

Cruz is going to add muscle mass eventually which will probably make him less limber at short but who knows. For now he looks good there

i think cruz was having tons of throwing errors at AAA. i was hoping they were more due to his attitude at being in the minors and that when under pressure in MLB he'd clean that up. certainly seems like that so far. firstbasemen have had to make some picks over there though.
yoshi was pretty awesome last year. they gave him money to stay here. he stunk but came back recently with the story that he had been playing through injury which seemed likely since he destroyed AAA in a few games, but is now stinking still in MLB for a week or so. might get another game or two before sitting more and batting lower

Cruz covers so much ground and makes plays others wouldn't with his arm that a few extra errors above average seems worth it to me. Such a weapon. And fun as **** to watch, which is something
