Getting a little teary eyed. I have an almost 10 year old and not going to have any more. That part of my life is forever done but when it was happening it felt like it would last a lifetime. The goodnight show on Sprout was a daily part of our life for a few years. Tempus fugit...

How do you get a toddler to stay in their bed and go to sleep
My kid responded well to a night light that has programmable colors. Red means you stay in bed. Green means you can come out, and then lots of positive reinforcement. Cookies and dumdums worked well.

We had something with a bunny sleeping and a bunny playing and it lit up according to how you set it. Worked like a charm for us. Best thing we ever did was keep to a sleep schedule.

We had something with a bunny sleeping and a bunny playing and it lit up according to how you set it. Worked like a charm for us. Best thing we ever did was keep to a sleep schedule.
This is interesting, because we're taking heat from family about having to leave things early because we've kept our son on the same sleep schedule for nearly three years. I'd much rather continually make time for my son, so he gets adequate sleep rather than push him for personal enjoyment. He seems to regulate himself so much better.

We were pretty strict with bedtimes at an early age. Once they get into grade school, summer time hangouts can last past bedtime on occasion. During the school year, back to a strict bedtime.

We're going to go the same route most likely, but he's almost 3, so we're pretty strict about bedtimes. I just want him to get a good night sleep, and getting used to that - rather than be inconsistent and jack up his mental state for personal enjoyment.

This is interesting, because we're taking heat from family about having to leave things early because we've kept our son on the same sleep schedule for nearly three years. Leaving early from these things is one of the best reasons to have kids.

Oh good call on the lights. Didn't know those things existed. Yes we have a good schedule still and always had. Bed at 8-830 it's just my wife has to sit in there with him and make sure that he stays in bed. And then she gets mad with me because she has to do it and not me :lol:

Our sound machine/night light has an "ok to wake" feature. Huh didn't even know. I'll try that

What time is bed time? We are very strict too. 7:15 the bedtime routine starts. In bed by 7:30.

What time is bed time? We are very strict too. 7:15 the bedtime routine starts. In bed by 7:30.
She gets ready for bed at 8pm, and after reading, it's around 8:30. She's 8 years old. We used the same times that you do up until she turned 7, I think. On the weekends now, she can stay up until 9pm.

If it's a bath night, we start at 7:15. Otherwise, 7:30 Goal is to get out of their rooms by 8. There's a pretty standard routine of brushing teeth, going to the bathroom, getting PJs on, reading, singing a couple songs, going over our favorite memories of the day, praying and snuggling. Same thing every night.

That more or less lines up then. We give them 30 minutes of tv as well, so lights out at 8. The 9pm on weekends is a bit late though. I’m sure that’s right around the corner for us though.

If my daughter has issues with sleeping, we'd change what we do, but she's a great sleeper. Which is ironic, given that she didn't sleep the first 6 months of her life. :lol:

I like weekends now with older kids. Wife is usually exhausted so it's usually like 9pm and I'm like, hey kids who wants to watch Bloodsport again?
