Our district applied for a USDA grant to give every child in the district free breakfast and lunch; we've had it for a few years now. With 50% of the population living below poverty level, there are a lot of kids who know they'll get at least two decent meals a day (and the district has some meals over the summer as well).

It's nice not having to worry about lunch money or lunch tabs either.
Meals should be included for all students in elementary school, at the very least, IMO.

I don't know how people willingly co-sleep.

My kid was crying last night so we brought him into bed. This is like the second or third time in his life this happened (15 months).

I woke up to my knee in his face and his foot on my neck.

We never co-sleep. That's a habit that you may have a very difficult time breaking in the future.

My son is 2.5 months old, so he is starting to coo and smile more.
I was just talking to my wife the other day about how we were a little worried about our daughter when she was in that stage of life... she barely cooed at all. In fact, until she started saying words, about the only noises she'd make was crying or laughing (but only when I'd tickle her). No cooing, no random giggles, no babbling, nothing.

Now we can't get her to shut up, but it was worrisome for a while.

I hear ya man...early childhood can be stressful in that respect, because we are wired to fear that our children are not developing properly. Google only makes it worse

Google is simultaneously the best and worst tool for raising a child.

When my wife was struggling to nurse our first, Google really messed with her. All kinds of psychotic mothers on the forums about how anything but nursing is criminal negligence of your child. These are the kind of moms that have LinkedIn profiles with the title "CEO at stay at home mommy"

3 times in 15 months wouldn't be a habit, but yeah

I only have one who still climbs into the bed, but have another I nearly step on a couple times a week because he comes and lies down on the floor next to my side of the bed.

If I woke up with a kid in bed (and my wife did too) I'd be concerned. Mine can't reach the door handles and sleeps in a crib...

Of the fifty percent, half of those are mrs meow going to get a crying kid and bringing them into our bed. They are only this small for a short window. If you wanna sleep in our bed, knock yourself out

My daughter is six now...the nights are few where she actually comes in to get me because she has a bad dream, or wakes up because she is scared. But you can bet that when she does, I absolutely savor every minute of going into her room and falling back asleep in there with her while holding her hand. I know it won't last much longer.

Our kids come in around 5:30 or 6 every morning now. They are getting one of those light clocks for Christmas

My son is 2.5 months old, so he is starting to coo and smile more. Last night, I had just got done changing him, and I was just hanging out with him for a second while he was on the changing pad. He locked eyes with me, and got really quiet, and then his eyes lit up and he just gave me the biggest smile he's ever given for a solid minute. Man, there is no feeling in the world that compares to that.

A mini Calvin (or Susie)! Congrats 'Om!

We're 6 weeks away from #3. My wife's not handling it well - definitely our last.

Source of the post Physically or emotionally?
Physically. She felt 8 months pregnant at 5 months. Now she's dealing with a bad cold. Sneezing doesn't feel so great when your abdomen is stretched like a balloon ready to burst.

Ugh, pregnancy colds are the worst. You can't take the strong stuff for it, and often the milder remedies don't work or make you sick to your stomach (at least that's what happened with my wife). Good luck.
