Signed up for Kindergarten tour today... geesh. Where did the time go?
Now to find an after school program for her to go to while we finish work. Or maybe hire a nanny type to be at the house for drop off? Work out some sort of work from home in the afternoons kind of thing? I dunno. It's gonna be weird for a bit.

My parents live in the same elementary school boundary, so we had it amazingly easy. But we also had full day Kindergarten.

Ours will be full day too, but our current set up is I drop her off every morning at 7:30 to daycare. Then my wife or I pick her up around 5-5:30. Now she'll be getting off the bus around 3. That 2 hours or so that we're going to have to figure out every day. Unfortunately, no family nearby.
I'm sure there are other kids/parents in the same boat and there are programs somewhere.

I went to pick her up from daycare yesterday. As per usual, I asked her how her day went. Her response was:
"Oh, pretty good. I got to go on the tumble bus."
"Oh yeah? That's fun. Anything else?"
"Kaiden punched me in the face."
Kaiden's dad was standing right there, and I swear this was his reaction:

Haha those interactions are always awkward. We'll get a note that so and so bit our kid at daycare, and I'm sure the other parent gets a note that their kid bit another kid. Our kid will say who did it, and I'm sure the other parent will ask who they bit. So the next time we're dropping our kids off, there's this awkward, hey, how you doin? interaction which usually results in an apology and not-a-bid-deal response.

Our daycare wouldn't tell parents who bit who, just that they were bit and the other child's parents were notified, which I was fine with. I did think it was funny that when this once happened and the director was telling me about the incident, my daughter looked up to me and said "it was [his name]!". We both got a chuckle out of it.Source of the post We'll get a note that so and so bit our kid at daycare, and I'm sure the other parent gets a note that their kid bit another kid. Same... our daycare just puts "a friend" did this or that. Never a name in conversation nor in writing. But of course, our daughter tells us exactly who it was.
My kid is already holding grudges like crazy though... we're going to have to walk that line of not allowing people to be mean/bully/abusive toward you but also being able to forgive and move on. We got the invites from Amazon to fill out for her birthday party and she said "Kaiden isn't invited anymore! He punched me in the face..."

Oops, meant to say that our daycare will not say who either, but it was easily found out.

With a name like Kaiden, his Dad should be the one punched in the face.

So, having the same name as my son is blah (not spelled the same) - but hitting/all of that crap happen.
My son says the same thing that people hit him and punch him, and he kind of holds no ill will - I think kids just know what is and isn't aggressive.
Our DC operates the same, never identify who did what just who was the victim. I've only have had to sign one going the other way, which is way less than I expected.

Our daughter had a VERY brief biting phase when she was turning 2ish, but thankfully that passed.

If our 3rd was a boy, my wife wanted that to be his name. I was not on board, and she was intent. Thank goodness we had a girl. With a name like Kaiden, his Dad should be the one punched in the face.

Yeah... it happens all the time. And I felt a little bad because he's gonna go home and his dad, after getting over the shock of hearing his kid punched a girl in the face, said "He's going to be sorry when he gets home..." Hmmmmmm, wonder where he got the idea that hitting was the appropriate response when you're angry? So, having the same name as my son is blah (not spelled the same) - but hitting/all of that crap happen.

baby mac is going on his fourth ear infection this year. He was born with a cleft palate and I suppose they're more prone to infections. March 21 can't come soon enough, palatoplasty and ear tubes to hopefully provide some relief to the poor guy. He takes the 10 day antibiotic regimen, it clears it up, and by day 4-5 after finishing the antibiotic, the infection returns.

I had a kid like that, constant ear infections and neverending antibiotics. The good news is he actually outgrew them, as he got bigger, his sinuses also got bigger and drained better.

Yeah, lil mac had tubes as well and has probably been on an antibiotic only one or two times since in 3 years.

My son had tubes and wasn't on an antibiotic the entire time they were in. Got a couple infections after they fell out, but luckily nothing in the last several months.
Daughter got tubes a week ago as she was starting to rack up the 10 days on, good for a week, and then back on.

After hearing about it from my sister, my daughter will be finally getting her ears pierced next month at a pediatrician's office that numbs the ears before piercing. Didn't know this was a thing until a few weeks ago.
5AF Parenting Thread
No infection in the ears but albuterol treatments for some wheezing. So help me God if he cannot get this surgery in 10 days I'll not be happy. The doctor does the palatoplasty once a month and we've had this booked since November.

Good luck man.
Our son has been home the last couple days, ear infection and the usual mix of URI garbage. He had a fever around 103 on a few occasions. After two doses with amoxicillin, he seems to be back to his energetic self with a cough.
My in-laws left on Tuesday--last night, her mom called to say she was diagnosed with influenza A and getting a chest X-ray tomorrow for pneumonia. None of us are sick except our son--bear in mind, when she got COVID over the winter, it kicked her ass and then some. She has several long COVID issues as well. I'm sure her immune system is shot at this point. At any rate, hoping we dodged that awful bullet.
Free vaccine vs. hundreds of dollars in "natural" prevention and cures. Which one wins?
