@Morkle you a proud father yet?
My wife delivered a healthy baby boy on Friday morning. I thought the overall process was not bad. I watched a majority of the time, and now I'm delirious from lack of sleep.

When exactly do newborns get used to sleeping at night and not during the day?

About 7 years from now unless nightmares, then maybe 13.

I’ll let you know when my one year old stops waking up at 6am no matter if it’s the weekend or weekday.

Took our boy about 4 weeks to sleep through the night but I don't think that is the norm.

Yup...once my daughter started rolling over onto her belly around the 2.5 month mark, she slept peacefully for 12 hours a night. Even before that, outside of the usual nighttime feedings, she was a good sleeper.

Now wait a minute. Six weeks is typically the length the day night confusion ends. The sleeping through the night things is a wildly different question/answer

I honestly have no idea how long it took our daughter to sleep through the night. I want to say 3 months, but I’m only 50% positive about that.

Were just past the 7 month mark... one full night of sleep thus far and that was in week 2 or 3. Some nights like last night it’s 4 or 5 wake ups. Most nights it’s two.

Our oldest took about a year to sleep completely through the night. The first time he did it was really a great night.

Second kid slept through the night in the hospital, more or less. Easy.

Oh, yeah, our boy sleeps from like 1030-6am.. So not sure if that's considered "through the night". He started that about when we transitioned him to his crib. Around 1 month or so. Last week we started using a sleep sack instead of a swaddle. He is still getting used to it and sometimes jolts himself awake. Wife's going back to work next Monday.

Swaddling is the key. Wrap those little pills up tight and they’ll sleep like a baby

Yep, we used to think he hated swaddling. And he likely does. But unswaddled, it'd take a while. Swaddled it's like 5 minutes tops. Get the ones with velcro

Swaddle and schedule.

Also learn the 5 S's from the "Happiest Baby on the Block". It'll be your go to for when the baby is fussy. Swaddling is one of the S's... along with shushing in their ear louder than they are crying. Swaying is another.

To be honest - it's more for you than for the baby - it gives you steps to try if they are crying, and most if not all of the time it works. If it doesn't.. well the baby is probably hungry or needs changed.

I am for shushing in their ear louder than they are crying

I am for Dr Hamilton’s baby hold (not a wrestling hold)
