Fellow NCers with kids. @MWB I just got a check from the state.

Yes... or I should say my ex wife said she did, since it was her year to claim kids on taxes.

We got $660 ($330 per kid) of EBT food stamps back in August. Very helpful.

Those were available for any parents/families with kids in schools that qualify for free or reduced lunch, which is most of the state.
Not too many complaints about that type of socialism, however.

Dropping my daughter off at daycare this morning:
"Daddy, I don't wanna go to daycare. I want to go home and eat pancakes."
I feel ya, kid. I feel ya.

On a Friday? With work from home? We would have peeled tire out of the parking lot and went home to eat pancakes.

Were on day 1. We've been pushing the potty all week and he hasn't pooped in his diaper in maybe 4 days. So poop he has down pat. He was diaperless all morning and I put underpants on around lunchtime to go outside. We are still waiting on the first #2 on the potty.
To follow up on Robbie's post, we did pretty much that for 2 days, and let daycare handle day 3. After she had an accident Day 1, and we got her immediately on the potty, it sort of clicked for her, and she was pretty good from there out. Unfortunately on Day 2 we slacked a bit as we were trying to get chores done around the house to prepare for the week (it was Sunday), and we had some accidents. But since then, she's been great. Monday was accident free (also she didn't poop that day), and Yesterday there was 1 accident in that she hasn't quite figured out pooping on the potty yet, so she went in her pants. But beyond that, she's been doing great.
We give her a single skittle after each successful trip to the potty, and I told her today that we'll start doing a lollipop for #2s and she seemed stoked about that. Like Robbie said, make it fun. Celebrate the successes. Be goofy about it. We have dance parties every time she goes, and now just the sound of pee hitting the water makes her smile and start dancing a bit.
He peed his pants out there (like a lot) and I think that was a huge step for him because he's peed on the potty twice since and the concept seems to have clicked.
We also went to throw a diaper on for nap and he had zero interest in wearing something other than underpants. Ended up compromising and put his underpants on over top of the diaper

The underwear under the diaper is actually suggested for overnight training.
After that first week, we got the #2s down, and she's been great since. Most mornings she's waking up with a dry diaper. Naps have transitioned to no pullup, and she hasn't had an accident during naps since we started going with just undies. Now to ween her off the potty rewards.

Haha my wife made a chart with white and black circles. He gets to put a sticker on when he goes. If he lands on a white he gets a couple M&Ms or skittles. If he lands on a black he gets to pick from the prize box. Over time there are more and more whites circles before the next black one.The underwear under the diaper is actually suggested for overnight training.

No clue how we're gonna get from that to no treats though... kinda hoping he just eventually forgets

I feel lucky that we didn’t really struggle potty training either kid. mini meow went through that potty training boot camp thing where you roll up all rugs and let them run around naked all weekend and stuff juice in them. Set a schedule for potty breaks every 20 minutes. baby meow told us like two months ago she didn’t want to wear diapers anymore so we made the switch and she’s had like one accident since then.

Our daughter was easy to potty train, in large part due to her being at day care 9 hours a day, but also because she was a born people pleaser.
Our 13 month old lives to destroy. He will watch you put everything back where it belongs and then immediately come over and start throwing toys everywhere. I can tell it will be a struggle.

My third grader's science grade for the first nine weeks was based on only 30 pounds and ten of it was participation points. The Chapter 1 test was nine points and then a six point quiz and a five point quiz...ok doesn't seem like too much for two months of school. She only got a 70% for the nine weeks. I contacted her teacher and what he said was basically the equivalent of a shrug and apologized. Guess gotta deal with this the whole year.

It’s third grade... I wouldn’t sweat it.

What do you guys get your kids for Christmas?
I don't really need to buy little mac anything but I still wanna have him opening a few things on Christmas morning. He's 2 and is finally getting into Santa, the grinch, Christmas, etc.
So many other family members get him stuff. So I'm looking for ideas.
