My kid will wear my blue oyster cult vest just like I did to the homecoming dance. No need to make this difficult.

The Mac family feels like a family that will have seven boys. Time for the secret vasectomy
Funny related story. I played travel baseball with two kids that their mother was going to have kids until she had a girl. Their thirteenth kid was a girl

I asked our daughter if she liked going up in the mountains/remote areas or going to the beach more, and several times this weekend she said how much more she likes the mountains. As much as I love the OBX, the fact that we can stay in a nice mountain lodge for like $1200 for a whole week (vs. $6000 and up at the beach) is a plus.

Beach trips have gotten expensive. I don't know how my parents were able to do two full weeks in Rodanthe each summer. If we had stayed in PA, they were considering doing a third week each summer. Inflation adjusted, my wife and I make much more than my parents did...but there is no way we could swing two full weeks in the OBX, nor my beach of choice, Hilton Head. Sad.

My in-laws have decided to stop going to the beach. The house needed to fit everyone now is too pricey for them and they are too proud to ask their three kids to pitch in. So they want to do their summer trip into the mountains somewhere.

The maintenance fees on my timeshares haven't gone up anywhere near the amount of hotels, airbnbs, etc., which is a big benefit to me. For one, my costs are pretty much consistent, so no surprises there. Secondly, I can still rent my units for the same or more than I have been getting every year prior.

We discussed a bit over the weekend about planning our trip(s) for next summer right now. I think we're going to hit the outer banks... now it's a matter of just finding the house and who's going with us. @dodint , you wanna come babysit?

I can't think of much that would stress me out more than the effing production kids have to go through these days to ask someone not just to prom, but also homecoming. When did this freaking start?
I would just have always gone by myself if it required this bullcrap.

What production? You don't ask, "Hey, want to go to X dance with me?"

Yeah... I know I'm just shy of a couple decades since the last time I asked a girl to prom, but... uhhh, what goes into it these days?

My parents are like this - the house for all of us is getting pricy and they won't accept cash directly. My in-laws have decided to stop going to the beach. We got them to agree to letting us pay for everything while there. Groceries, dinners, activities, bar tabs, etc.

Apparently at minimum you have to make a sign. For example a kid asked our goalie to homecoming and he asked her after a game in front of everyone with a sign that said "It's my goal to take you to HOCO."What production? You don't ask, "Hey, want to go to X dance with me?"
Yeah, nah.

Yeah, my kid was talking about this last night. I remember this happening when I was a kid as well, but I think now it's mostly done amongst couples already together (which makes it just as dumb). If we didn't go to the dance, we'd always line up with a 3 man slingshot and fire water balloons at people as they came out of the dance. It was awesome.Apparently at minimum you have to make a sign. Update: The board elected the person that I personally would have chosen to fill the vacancy, as well. Entire career background in education, and not a crazy person. Job well done. There's a vacant spot on our school board, and I'm reviewing the applicant's entries. Most seem like fine people, and then there's this guy:
