Jordan Peterson is in my Instagram algorithm. The first thing I ever saw of him made really good sense to me. Something about feminism being stupid. Then all this diarrhea from him came him since then. But the algorithm got me because there isn’t a **** dislike button

Jordan Peterson only came to attention because Canada in 2016 was debating a bill (Bill C-16), which the Canadian government eventually passed in 2017, that amended the Canadian Human Rights Act to add provisions for gender identity and gender orientation, which Peterson argued would subject individuals to liability if they did not use a trans person's preferred pronouns. Peterson, who was at the time a college professor at the University of Toronto, argued that the bill would restrict free speech, and he said that he would refuse to refer to transgender students by their preferred pronouns because he did not believe in the separation of gender and biological sex.
While supporters of C-16 pooh-poohed Peterson and argued that C-19 would not subject people to punishment for pronoun usage, the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal in 2021 held that a restaurant was legally liable and had to pay damages for "misgendering" a trans waiter by not using that person's preferred pronouns, and the restaurant was also ordered to "implement a pronoun policy and mandatory training for all staff and managers about diversity, equity and inclusion." The tribunal also suggested language for the new policy: "The restaurant can draft its own language, but it could be something like: “Pronouns – All team members have the right to be
addressed by their own personal pronouns.” I also encourage, but do not order, the restaurant to update its policies to use nonbinary, gender neutral language throughout. This would mean, for example, replacing references to men or women with ‘people’ and replacing his/his/she/hers with they/them"
In other words, Peterson was correct. And Peterson is only a thing because trans folks want to legally force other people to use their pronouns. If that weren't the case, no one would have ever heard of Jordan Peterson.

I'll feel that way in November about our 4 year old. Time's moving way too fast - and he's getting almost too big to hold consistently anymore.

I would say every other day mini-meow (8 y/o) does something that shocks me from a maturity/I didn’t know you could do or knew that perspective. Last night as his baseball game is a good example. He is the only 8 year old in the 9-10 year old kid pitch league. Like 150 kids. He’s also tiny for his age so there are kids that are a foot taller and weigh 75 pounds more than him. He bats lead off and plays second base. In their two games, he is 6-6 with two walks and 12 stolen bases. He’s stolen home three times. He ended their game last night with a double play where he dove to his backhand to catch a line-drive, sprung to his feet and doubled off the kid that was at first. I just stood there and shook my head. I had no idea he was capable of something like that.

My daughter (4.5 years old) was asking me about Frida Kahlo this morning at breakfast as she was reading a book about famous artists. She said she remembered her from Coco and she asked me where she was. I said she was born in Mexico but has since died. She was confused... not about the death thing. Disney has taught her about death and dying but phrase "she was born in Mexico" stumped her. She asked me what I meant.
"Well, we're all born somewhere. She was born in Mexico, you were born in America, some people are born in America or Mexico or Europe..."
Her response: "Or February..."
We got a good chuckle.

My son really seems to have trouble focusing from time to time. He just turned four. I feel like it's part just boredom with a menial task or activity and also something that I'm debating on bringing up with a pediatrician.
