Daycare just raised prices and our weekly cost went up by $55

I dont understand how they think they can just increase your expense by a life changing amount whenever the **** they want

I know I whine a lot about our daycare but I must say cost is one thing they cannot be touched. $30 a day for 9 hours is insane cheap.

Dude. $369 and $303 per week now. And that includes the 2 kid discount

Edit: as in that's the cost for each kid based on their classroom price. So $672 a week. Crushes my mortgage payment.

I have no idea how you guys are paying so much less. The cheapest place near me when I started looking 5 years ago was like $240/week and they had a 2 year waitlist. I think when we first sent him to this place it was $270

$120 a week (4 days x 1 kid)

I guess this is the difference in living in the sticks versus a bigger metro area?

That's insane. My wife's gross pay is a little under $1k a week at that price she may as well stay home

Just a sunk cost if you want to have kids. Shouldn't really consider anything more than a payment that only goes away to turn into something else they want to do in the future.

Still pales in comparison to daycare tuition. Most of that money went straight into our brokerage account.

We're doing sports with 2 kids and daycare with one. Sports is like 1 daycare payment per year, per child.

My wife's pay barely covers it and the excess probably isn't worth the hassle of working. But (1) as a teacher there's a long term benefit so we really view it as an investment into our future, and (2) she needs to do something or she'd be miserable. Also working gives her less time to spend money...

Unless you get roped into travel sports, daycare is way more expensive. And even then, travel sports may be cheaper.

I remember when our youngest son started 5K. It was like we both got $3000 raises. Daycare in these parts is cheap, and we were fortunate to not have to pay for much afterschool daycare as they could hang out in my wife's classroom after school. Getting rid of diapers was almost as financially gratifying.
