To the parents of 5AF: Please do not create Facebook accounts for your toddlers. I do not like having to decline friend requests from an 18-month old child.

That's just creepy (and I know a few people who did just that).

Odds of these kids having first names that start with "McK..." or end with "...addy" are between 95 and 98%

Making a social media account for your toddler is messed up, vain parenting. People are so desperate for adoration these days, especially stay at home moms :pop:

Negative. But the kid's first name usually presents as a surname, so you're in the right neighborhood.

I'm more mad that you paged me in a post in which you also quoted me, thereby giving me two notifications to clear. Jerk.

Kids just started back at school and a big change for this year is the district has a new "Wellness Policy" that says that treats can no longer be brought in for a party or kid's birthday. Initially I thought it was because of allergies, sensitivities, etc. The next day we get a paper home that treats/snacks are OK for a party or birthday AS LONG AS you buy the stuff through the school's food provider! It has to be scheduled two weeks in advance also. Oh, it has nothing to do with health as some of the options are regular cookies, chips, cupcakes, and juice (like Turner's Orange Drink not real juice). The kicker: cookies and chips are $.30 each, cupcakes $.50 each. What a racket.

I'm not sure what the deal is, but my daughter has been quite disruptive at daycare over the past two weeks, to the point that she's been sent to the office multiple times now. I wound up just picking her up and taking her home today because of it, in fact. It doesn't seem to matter what we say to her when we go over what the issue was, and I'm getting close to taking a much more severe punishment than timeouts, etc. - cancelling our upcoming Disney trip altogether. My wife doesn't agree, but I certainly don't want her to think that she can be rewarded for this type of behavior.

We have the opposite problem where our oldest son is an angel in daycare but a handful at home. Getting him to listen to anything we say is completely pointless. Dinner time is always tough. He can't sit still for more than 5 seconds, has to play with toys while we are eating, and now is influencing his little brother into similar habits.

Cancelling the Disney trip may be a bit much though. I'm not sure kids at this age truly understand the reward system. They think they deserve rewards at all times no matter what.

I doubt my wife would ever go along with it (cancelling Disney), anyway. Today it was just her not getting her way (somebody else was picked to do some task that she wanted to do), and it snowballed from there. She's a smart kid, and she knows damn well that what she's doing is wrong. It's just incredibly frustrating.

Yup...our daughter is generally really good, but I've been really trying to enforce consequences lately. It usually results in a full-blown meltdown (in public or otherwise), but I figure it's a down payment on the future. Or something.

Have any of you guys read John Rosemond's books?

He's old school, but some of his methods worked with my oldest son.

Most definitely old school. No corporal punishment or anything, but definitely a different approach.
