I feel for my lil dude.

He's on another different antibiotic because the first one tore his stomach up. He's finally eating regular food for the first time in about a week. But still blowing through diapers like it's no one's business.

We always ask for a probiotic Rx when we are prescribed an antibiotic. We get shot down a lot and told to get a OTC, but we’ve gotten a few to give us one. Our Pediatrician knows we will ask so he gives us one without asking anymore.

We had a big party on Saturday...it became an impromptu diaper party/baby shower but was more of a party than anything else. Our daughter was a big fan of us opening up gifts for her future brother, let me tell you

Wife: "I'm calling the ENT to make an appointment for lil mac, I presume you want to come, what's your schedule like?"
mac: "Yes I do, I am pretty much booked until Aug 26 with work travel, after that any Friday morning works best"
...
Wife: "OK just got off the phone with them. The appointment is Friday August 16th at 2 PM"
mac: "..."

But I'm the one that doesn't listen.

I'm thinking of taking my toddler to Idlewild this coming weekend. We'll probably spend a day at the park and then another in the area. Does anyone have suggestions of something else we could do within 30-ish minutes of Ligonier? Living Treasures is probably on the list, but I was wondering if there's anything else.

Edit: Looks like we'll probably be staying in Blairsville, so I don't know if that expands the travel radius. I'm just not that familiar with the area east of Pittsburgh.

Lynn Run State Park for nature trail and some small waterfall viewing. The Adams Falls area, specifically.
Fort Ligonier for some outdoor history, it's right on Rt. 30. Cool museum and lots of stuff to look at outside.
Walking around the diamond in downtown Ligonier. Great candy shop right there, and some other shops and restaurants.
Flight 93 Memorial is beautiful, probably 30 minutes up eastbound 30. Somber, but it's nice if even just for the architecture. Walking trails, etc.
If you do go that way, Coal Miner's Cafe in Jennerstown is worth a stop for lunch. You can feed your kid a gob the size of their head.

Ruthie's Diner is a nice roadside food place if you're hungry afterwards, it's on the eastbound side of 30 as you're leaving Ligonier.

Blairsville...woof, I've got nothing.

Yeah Idlewild is between Blairsville and living treasures. Why Blairsville?? No options in Latrobe or Donegal?

Fort Ligonier is pretty cool but probably not for a toddler. Caddy Shack is over by Living Treasures. Another option would be swimming at Trent Beach.

My wife likes using Hampton Inn, and there's an indoor pool, so that's the reasoning behind Blairsville. I wanted to stay in Ligonier, but that's not happening.

I think we'll end up going to a state park and canoeing a bit. I've been contemplating getting one for the family, so that might be a good way to introduce them to it. It looks like the lake at Yellow Creek might be nice.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I do think you can rent boats at Trent as well. Laurel Hill State Park. But either location is about equidistant from Blairsville

I took my daughter to her first actual eye exam today, and it turns out that she’s slightly farsighted. The doctor recommended prescription reading glasses. She’s actually very excited, as she has always wanted glasses. Kids are **** stupid.

Mrs Mac is out of town until Wednesday so I'm single dad'n it for the first time.

Naturally I would get a head cold the day she leaves.

Goodnight Moon is not, in fact, good.
My only complaint is that it should be called “Goodnight Room” instead.

This is the best moment in children’s books history. It comes to you from the PD Eastman classic, “Snow”

Also in this book is the line, “It lets you give your dog a ride”. Which isn’t even a strong euphemism, but still a hoot.

Night Night, Pennsylvania is great. Pout Pout Fish is good as well. All sorts of good books out there.

Do any of yinz have those "Old Lady that Swallowed a Fly" books? My daughter loves those.

Like c2i said, there are so many great books out there. I like the five minute bedtime stories series. We also have "Goodnight, Darth Vader" which is a fun one.

Probably already mentioned it ITT, but anything by Mo Willems is top notch.

My oldest is into the "Step into Reading" series of books which are really good. He has one on volcanoes and one on snakes and is now the family expert on both subjects.

Sandra Boyton books are a big hit in the c2i household.
