My SIL called last week to ask my job title for my nephew’s summer job/internship applications as a reference.

OK first, are you filling out job applications for your 20 year old (95% sure she was) ? And second, how about if he calls me himself and asks “Uncle Ronnie, is it ok if I use you for a reference?”

This is the kid’s first job and she is the ultimate helicopter parent. I can’t think of a thing he’s been made to do on his own his whole life. To the point of- she is an instructor at the a university he attends and has contacted his professors in the past about his grades. It’s a bold strategy, Cotton let’s see if it pays off for ‘em.

I gave her the job title to avoid family drama. Stirring up family drama is her job.

I’m always mortified when I hear about parents talking to college professors about grades. Stay the hell out of it. By high school kids should be the ones making teacher contact.

As a husband of a college professor, yes. She’s told me about some of the psychos she’s had to deal with. Both students and parents alike.

One girl this year asked her C+ be turned into a B+ so that she doesn’t get suspended for academic reasons. No “hey I think this was graded wrong” no “my grandmother died and it was a hard semester” just “hey… can you change my grade?” And then she wouldn’t stop emailing my wife. It got so bad she reported her to the proper office to deal with her.

Nobody but parents, and maybe retired grandparents. should be inconvenienced for a kid’s graduation from anything below High School.

Christ every time kids move to a new school it’s some sort of celebration. Preschool and Kindergarten graduation is cute at least. I’ve seen a ton of 8th grade graduation posts on FB lately. Please shut the eff up. Get your kid’s ass to the high school.
I agree with this, but let's make sure we are directing our anger at the correct people. This isn't the kid's fault - not that anyone is saying that. I think kindergarten, pre-school, whatever, graduations are amazing for parents and for the kids. Let's not poo-poo them because some mom's are psychos and think everyone with ten spaces of the family tree have to attend. We don't invite a soul to ours. Hell, mrs meow hasn't made the last few because they are during her school's standardized testing time.

I've seen kindergarten graduation yard signs this week. Big yikes.

I know this is yet another fundraiser for a private school, but enough already.

Opening weekend at Delgrosso. What a beauty today was. Kids loved it, 1 1/2 year old had a blast.

We’ve been going to Delgrosso since the ‘70s, when my grandparents lived in Tyrone. It was called Bland Park at the time which, when you think about it is a terrible name for an amusement park. Thus, probably, the name change to Bland’s Park. It’s been DelGrosso since 2000 although they have owned it for much longer.

My Dad likes to go on their spaghetti nights, although everyone else rates it pretty low on the sauce scale.

I still call it Bland’s Park. I used to love their old coaster, the zyklon. The crazy mouse they replaced it with is lame. Space odyssey was great too.
I use their sauce pretty regularly.

Delgrossos is the best value for an amusement park anywhere in the center/western part of the state. I haven’t explored much out near philly or the poconos, but the water park at delgrossos is well worth it, and if you have kids under 6 or 7, the kids ride section is great there.

Went to Kennywood yesterday. Beautiful day, but man is it expensive now. It always has been, but it's a big day, all things considered.

Fond memories of riding the Zyklon with my first grade crush right before summer break. We did a lot of elementary trips there.

I do miss the old mini golf course, kart track, and Austin's though. That course was fantastic.

I'm not sure what it's like now, but we used to drive to the top of the road from Bellwood over to Sinking Valley for a great view of the fireworks. You could walk out to the rock field, just had to look out for rattlers

Just got home from Dupont, they ended to taking out our son's adenoids and putting new tubes in. They did the endo and found that the back of his nose was a little over 50% was blocked so I'm glad it was something actionable.

He is doing pretty well but it might be the morphine he got when he was under

20 week check-up today. We got sonogram confirmation that is in fact a girl. Genetics was like 99.9% accurate, but I wanted it confirmed since we told everyone already.

Otherwise, everything is normal.

I’m hyper aware of my fortune in this life. Nothing makes me get down on my knees and thank the non-existent god more than having a boy and then a girl and being about to get snipped.
