I don't worry about my kids 9 times out of 10. They're pretty responsible and understand the basic right and wrongs. Like my 9 year old son has stayed alone for up to an hour, my 11 year old for several, because I know they'll be fine and not do anything stupid. I wouldn't count on them to feed the pets and cook for themselves, and they're still slobs, but I figure they're pretty good.
When they're playing sports or that and they get hurt I'm pretty measured in response.
What I do worry about is my 13 year old going to the amusement park with her school (reward for good attendance and grades), and they don't have enough chaperones so they're basically unsupervised. By herself I trust her instincts, with a group of other 13 year olds it worries the crap out of me knowing the stuff my sister pulled and is lucky she's still alive to tell stories about.

Peer pressure worries me more than anything else.

And like you can't interfere when they're trying to push their bounds but being careful also. When my son did the rock climbing wall at the playground first I remember a cracked open skull flashing through my head. But he was fine, he did it slow and steady, and now is a pro.

Don’t think the worrying, on some level, ever stops. My one daughter who just graduated college, I worry about very little. But there are things like making sure she gets a good job. The younger one who just finished her first year I’ve always worried about more. In their younger years it was worried about peer pressures and the things like that. I know they’ve got good heads on their shoulders, but also knew that middle and high school can be tough. I’ve been pretty lucky though.

My eldest worked his first normal full shift job last night, at a ice cream shop. He was irritated at only making $8 an hour, but when he was tipped out with $43 after a 5 hour shift, the complaints stopped.

Do they report tips? Wait till he gets that paycheck with taxes taken out on the tips AND the $8/hour.

Hmm, that I don't know. He worked two training shifts and was paid cash (and not tipped out). My guess is that they don't report tips.

Preschool graduation? is that something that really needs a celebration? Are there kids that don't graduate from preschool?

I’ll miss my kid’s preschool graduation because I’ll be out of the country. Luckily, she’ll have kindergarten graduation, elementary school graduation, middle school graduation, high school graduation, maybe even college and grad school graduation. I’ll catch one of those.

That said, she’s been at this daycare since she was 5 months old. They’re going to miss her, she’s going to miss them.

baby meow has her kindergarten award cry today. Every kid won like five awards. Met this math goal. Met that reading goal. Then there were a few that only one kid would win. She won two of them. Exceptional behavior and drama class award. The behavior is because she never lost a color all year. The drama class one is because apparently she gets way into the class and her drama teacher loves it

Oh yeah, waterworks for my daughter. It's hard not to.

When my daughter gives me teenage attitude at times and almost blurts out "sht" in the car I can't believe it was only four years ago. :(

Yes, 'Tis the season. My elder son is a Junior Marshall for graduation next week, because he's top 20 in his class (one of 4 boys lol). So he gets to take his exams early and finishes his junior year Wednesday (over a week early). My eighth grader got a perfect score on his Algebra I EOC exam, which is a high school level class.

We had drama yesterday because my sister in law forgot about her son's Kindergarten graduation until 4pm (2 hours before) yesterday. My wife and I are sitting in the outpatient center just before my procedure and my father in law is at my house with the kids.

So now it's my wife's fault that my father in law missed the graduation, and she herself is in the doghouse for not going.

For kindergarten graduation, are you **** kidding me?

Yeah that's absurd. It's a kindergarten graduation...not high school or college.

I would consider telling my son's grandparents about it, but aunts and uncles? GTFO. You "graduate" by showing up. That's like... great job let's go get ice cream... level of celebration

Nobody but parents, and maybe retired grandparents. should be inconvenienced for a kid’s graduation from anything below High School.

Christ every time kids move to a new school it’s some sort of celebration. Preschool and Kindergarten graduation is cute at least. I’ve seen a ton of 8th grade graduation posts on FB lately. Please shut the eff up. Get your kid’s ass to the high school.
