What’s the age to leave a kid home alone for, say, 10 minutes?

Depending on the kid, somewhere between 8 and 11 imo.

I've asked my 9 year old if he's OK with me doing a quick 5 minute thing. Sometimes he is, sometimes not. It's really up to the kid and whether they'd feel abandoned. But I wouldn't ask my 7 year old to do the same thing. So yeah, at least 8 probably.

mini meow is 9 now and when I have to run baby meow to ballet, mini meow has to stop his homework, get in the car, ride 2 miles to drop her off and then come back and pick up homework again. It feels stupid. Especially when he is pretty mature for his age, we have two dogs, I would lock all the doors and set the alarm. I'm thinking about asking him today if that's something he is cool with.

Most definitely acceptable. You know your child best.

So we might have started something here. Today he insisted we leave him home while we got groceries. We decided to leave him with my phone

He didn’t burn the house down so that’s another small win

Be careful, because soon enough they’ll never want to come out with you.

Avatar: the last air bender was one of my favorite cartoon series in college. I’ve rewatched it a few times and it holds up super well. I asked my 5 year old if she wanted to watch it after I told her the premise. She was in.

We’ve watched about 5 or 6 episodes and she’s in love with it. It’s great to share these sorts of things with her.

They won't be out for a couple years, but animated movies are in the works that will feature the gaang as adults. I believe the movies are being done by the same people who did the series.

My son is 6 months old and he has started to grab himself during diaper changes. I didn't realize that started so young

😂

My sister used to babysit for our neighbors in the 80’s. Every time she’d bath the little boy, he would rub it and say “pee pee grow, pee pee grow.”

Anyone else's kid a puker, like cough cough then puke? Cause mine is. And daycare thinks he has the flu every time this happens and he gets a 3 day vacation. It's so annoying.

No, but they are constantly trying to tell us he has pink eye.

My middle one was like that. Usually helped brought along by dairy products making her extra phlegmy. Super annoying but the only thing we could do was try to keep her mucus thinned out pretty much.

Yeah we have started giving him a daily dose of Zyrtec. Yesterday though my wife was in a hurry and forgot. We took him to Med Express Saturday and they said a strep test was negative. But he's been very phlegm-y lately and gets these coughing fits. He told me someone was mean to him on the playground and made him sad, so that got him worked up and coughing and then bam, puke.

Wait until he learns to manipulate that into getting what he wants right before bedtime. I always had to be very delicate with her or else I'd be cleaning up puke in the middle of the night.

My son has started to pull himself up to standing, but he is not strong enough to stay standing and inevitably falls down, sometimes hitting his head. Is there ever a time in parenthood that you aren't worried for their safety

That age is when they are least likely to hurt themselves so it only gets worse

That said, you do worry a little less as they grow up. I'm sure that actually reverses course and you worry more as they approach they reach their teenage years like DG mentioned.
