My kid refused to be swaddled. We’d wrap her tight, loose, medium, it didn’t matter. She’d scream and fight and eventually Houdini her arms out and then settle immediately.

All four of my kids slept differently. The oldest started sleeping through the night at about 6 weeks, the second never slept all the way until she was almost 18 months, but never was hard to get back to sleep, so it didn't seem that bad. Child #3 had me like a zombie for two years, kid still doesn't sleep well, but he's 8 so I don't care if he gets up. Child #4 started sleeping through the night soon after he was born.

I am for Dr Hamilton’s baby hold (not a wrestling hold)

Our friend's mom is an L&D nurse, and when our daughter was young she showed us how to hold her along the hip, almost like a football. I tried it a couple times and felt like I was going to drop her at any second, so that was that.

I fondly remember the lower back pain from rocking with her and holding her for hours on end.

Yeah, that's a women only move. Men just don't have the hips for it.

Depends on the person. My wife was getting stir crazy at home and was looking forward to getting out of the house. Now, leaving your baby for an entire day is another story.

Got about 5 hours of sleep last night. He slept the entire night minus the times we woke him up to feed him.

Feltgoodman.

Congrats. Nights like those allow you to feel somewhat normal the next day. Good times!

Seriously it felt good. Downside is that he's slightly fussy today.

I'm a bit perturbed by the bill I received for the hearing test at the hospital during our kids birth. We were at Forbes. It's an in network hospital especially for highmark patients right? So today I get a bill for $239 for the hearing test which was administered by an out of network provider. Wtf is that. Do I have any recourse here?

There should be a number on the back of your bill to call and appeal

After talking more with my wife I learned that the lady administering the test stated that she "usually only does it for westmoreland hospital but since it was the holiday weekend she was at Forbes".

I'm going to call highmark tomorrow and complain. If that doesn't work I guess I call the company. Who I Googled and found a ton of threads about the same issue.

Also it seems the ACA states that insurances must cover hearing tests for newborns?

Give them a call, they can work the billing to get it paid. We had it happen with anesthesia once and they cleared it up.

2 nights in a row where the baby has slept except when we woke him.

Missed a feeding and he slept 3 hours straight last night. Felt good and bad at the same time.

Dude is coming into his own and feels like we’re getting a solid routine.

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m still amazed at the amount of people who either wait until the last second or don’t RSVP at all to a birthday party. I need to provide a head count by Friday and am still waiting to hear back from virtually all of our neighbors.

We have been trying to position our kids doctor appointments so we can take both at the same time. Today was the first time we were able to accomplish it. Both kids got four vaccines. It was a complete mess, but I think it was a good idea to do both at the same time.

Just got my first night in bed without needing to get up for the past 8 months. So good.

Also, I'm trying to convince the wife that our vacation should include time where it's just the two of us. We have a week in July scheduled to be our vacation (week after the 4th). And she just wants to go to Cleveland and visit her family. Woo... great vacation. The wonderful world of Cleveland! I was curious and looked at allegiant air flights to Savannah from Cleveland. Round trip for the two of us would be ~$250. We could get away for a few days and enjoy the city of Savannah, and leave the kiddo with grandma, who will absolutely love it. Win-win, right?
