We did one of those wine painting parties except for my 12 year old so it was Koolaid and Fun Dip two weeks ago. After that experience, all I can do is applaud shaf.

Meanwhile, I was past 1 this morning editing a highlight video of my son's sporting events for his talent show. Can't sing or dance but wanted to participate so he asked me to splice together 3 minutes of plays and I decided to pair a few with calls from our local play-by-play talents. I'm feeling pretty proud of myself, and very tired.

Was giving the little one a bubble bath last night and she scooped up some bubbles and said "Hey dad... look. It's a sheep." She has a book about a farmer that shaves the sheep and they all get cold and so he uses the yarn from their wool to knit them sweaters to keep them warm, so I asked, "Should we shear off it's wool?" "YEAH!!!"

So I make the clipper sound and go in with my hand and "clip" the wool. She bursts into tears. Inconsolable tears.

"What's wrong?"
"YOU BROKE MY SHEEP!!!!"
"Okay, well, let's just make a new one..."
*Scoop up some bubbles and plop them in her hand*
*Tears intensify*
"What's wrong now?"

"THAT'S NOT A SHEEP! THAT'S A RHINO!!!!"

I couldn't stop laughing. I think me laughing made her realize the situation was funny and not terrible so we started making new animals in our hands out of the bubbles. Turned a tantrum into a game. I'll take the dad win.

I’m on my first cheese bus in what has to be 25+ years, headed to the science museum. The kids are beyond ecstatic, as this is the first class trip for all of them.

It's my kids' last day(s) at their current schools. My middle schooler, who still has to take standardized tests, hasn't done a damn thing since his math state test last week. He's actually stayed home the last two days, and they aren't even taking roll. My high schooler dutifully went to school to see his friends one last time, even though they haven't done anything since Tuesday and his last final exams.

Weird having a rising 8th grader and rising junior. They aren't the least bit concerned about changing schools. I moved at both their ages and I was really nervous about it, both times.

The kids in my group loved the field trip. On the way home, one of the quirky kids in class sat next to me on the bus, and we chatted the entire way home. One of the questions he asked me was, what’s the worst thing ever? I said I don’t know, and he was like, “these masks, they succcckkkkkkk” (lighthearted). had a good laugh at that.

Final soccer game of the season today, and my daughter’s team played their best game, and finally won (3-1). They are all under 10, but have been playing in an 11 and under league. I forget why.

Anyway, they were outstanding today, and could have put another 2 on the board. All but two of the girls are returning for fall soccer in their normal age bracket, so this season likely prepared them well.

Nice! That makes a huge difference.

I'm actually at the Lancaster County U10 tournament in Denver at Cocalico HS today for my daughter's team. Her squad has never lost a match, dating back to the start of last season (they won the tourney last year too).

They won the first three games and are playing their final match. First game was 1-0, that is about as close as it's gotten. My daughter has been keeper for first half and forward for most of the second. These girls have gotten really close, trying to keep them together as long as possible. Long day today

Not to one-up you NTP, but my boys had their last dek hockey games on Saturday. Before the game, they asked me what I would give them if they scored 1, 2 or 3 goals. Being that only once has my oldest ever scored a hat trick in 3 seasons of dek hockey, I felt pretty confident in offering some pretty sweet deals if they got to three. My youngest's highest was a 2-goal game.

The 6 year old scored four and not to be outdone, the 8 year old scored five. Super proud of them, but now they've both won both showcases and they can only eat so much ice cream/go to Urban Air so many times.

First ever Tball practice is tomorrow with first game next week. If anything, this will be highly entertaining and/or embarrassing - 3 year old so it will be both. I hope he likes it enough to keep playing and trying in future years.

Speaking of baseball. Mini-meow’s season ended last night. They had a middling record. Their top couple players were the best in the league, but their bottom players were the worst in the league. The coach tried everything to mix the line up to try and maximize what they could do, but it wasn’t really sustainable. Their season ended on a high note with them being up by one in the bottom of the sixth inning with two runners on and ending the game with a triple play.

My one niece is pretty pretty good. She is in 10U right now. Her team lost in the playoffs last week after blowing a late lead. She was pitching and she took it super hard. It was a good learning experience for them though since they had gone undefeated last year. If they have fall ball she will have one more run with this group before she moves up next year.

My nephew just started 8U...and they are actually all pretty good. He's one of the youngest on the team. Their playoffs start I think later this week or early next week. 8U is still coach pitch, but anything is better than the slog that was t-ball. That was painful very painful haha.
