I pay just over 9 grand for one kid... and by I, I mean I pay half and my company pays the other half.

Company subsidized daycare would be a nice perk if/once they could close all our offices for good.

At least let dependent care FSA's be limitless. Why is there a $5000 limit? Who only spends 5 gees on childcare?

Tubes are officially getting put in next Friday. Not enthused about having to drive the whole way to Bryn Mawr but worth it to stay with Dupont.

Pretty excited about this. Not expecting an overnight miracle but looking forward to seeing the change.

Just a heads up: it can be a little discomfiting to see your child in a hospital gown and under anesthesia. Both of our sons went in for surgery at around 6:30-7am and were done before 8. They were home, no worse for the wear, around lunchtime. No residual effects from the anesthesia and no ear pain. It's amazing how quickly they heal!

Of course, if your daughter had tubes, you know this already. Just don't forget the earplugs for shower/bathtime.

Thanks. My daughter didn't need them, but I did have to take my son to the hospital earlier this year to remove some excess skin from his circumcision. So he's been through the anesthesia stuff once already. Much appreciated!

Little dude got hand/foot/mouth pretty bad. All kinds of rash spots and sores.

Any recommendations? I know there is no medicine for it. We've been doing Tylenol/Motrin rotation to help with the pain and Benadryl and cream.

Ugh, the worst. Calamine is great for drying out the especially nasty patches of blisters and taking the itch/discomfort away quickly

13 year old moaned all week about the end of the soccer season party at the skating rink. We said he would go for an hour, eat, thank the coaches, and then leave. We're into hour two, and he's having a blast.

Teenagers are something else.

Wednesday my son had 3 accidents and got sent home with a "stomach bug" until today (72 hours symptom free). I put him in a pull up Wednesday and Thursday but he did fine. Friday back to normal underwear, no accidents at all. One runny poop Saturday. Today, we get a call that he had another accident and if it happens again he has to be picked up and 72 hour stay at home (again).

I am about at my wits end with daycare and the accidents. He moved rooms in September and seems to have 1-2 accidents a week now, to the point where it was our main topic at teacher conferences.

Also if the kid has a little bit of diarrhea that doesn't constitute a f'n stomach bug and require him to be sent home twice in a 1 week span for 3 days. The first day, I get it. But he's been eating normal, no fever, never vomited, nothing. My wife and I are actually starting to wonder if he makes himself so nervous at school that this happens.

The stomach bug send home rule at ours is 3 diarrhea in a day.

Very weird that they would punish accidents like that especially at his age.

4 or 5 months into my kid being fully potty trained he had about a 2-3 week issue of accidents at school nearly every day. It's a 3 year old...

I'm not wild about his teacher and neither is he, but we're still trying to convince him it'll get better (I don't blame him though, because it doesn't seem to be). He's been potty trained about 6-8 months and never had issue until transition to the 3yo room. For me it's more of the "he has diarrhea therefore he has a stomach bug" complaints and has to go home.

Yeah, that sounds like nerves for lil' mac. These daycares LOVE sending kids home for random **** (no pun intended), too, to ease their workload. We had a woman who sent my youngest home because "he looked feverish." But his temp was 99 or so. **** right off with that noise.

We addressed that at a conference Friday with his teacher m. I guess they have a rule that when they are doing activities at like their stations, if they leave the station they have to sit out for the remainder. But obviously bathroom breaks are different, and he's getting confused about them possibly.

He has openly told us he doesn't like his teacher though. It seems to be because in the 3yo room they're starting to introduce more structure and rules and I think he just perceived her as constantly yelling at him. Probably not that far off though lol.

Transition time is always rough. Usually resolves itself within a month as long as you take the pressure off him
