Yea that's the best way to describe it right now. I can see myself more of a dad now than I could 9 months ago, and I'm excited, but yea. Ultimately terrified because I just want to do the best I can lol.

I have fond memories of tracking the contraction times on the app on my phone (which I highly recommend for anyone who's SO is pregnant). What a whirlwind night that was.

I know we've spoken offline, but don't worry. Everything will go just fine. It's a great feeling!

I'll never forget the night my wife went into labor. Her water broke at our friend's house. And shes like "ok lets go home".......in the opposite direction of the hospital. I'm like WTF, you packed your bag for this reason. So she wants to change. She gets home and changes and before she can even leave the house she needs to essentially change again. Meanwhile we're in the middle of Fayettenam and I gotta get to Forbes hospital.

Also Friday night at midnight at Forbes Hospital is worse than Fayettenam. :pop:

For my wife's first pregnancy, her water broke around 12:30 and she called me at work to tell me. She had already called The Midwife Center and they said for her to take her time and to come in any time in the next 4 hours. I had a meeting at 1 that I told my wife I'd attend, then come home.

At the end of the meeting, I told my boss that I was leaving as my wife's water broke. He knew I hadn't looked at my phone or taken a call during the meeting, so he said, "WTF are you in this meeting for, go home!" I think he was more nervous than me.

I just assumed water breaking meant baby comes in like 5 minutes. It was about 10 hours for my wife.

We've been asked by a larger contingent than I thought if we were getting the placenta put into pill for her consumption. She is not about that life.

Pill form? Amateurs. Should be sous viding it with some onion and garlic.

I busted out the sous vide a few days back for the first time since March or so when I transitioned to exclusively grilling proteins and man is it so good (yes, I know you can make slapdick souffle and whatever else in it beyond meats and fish, shut up tif)

There have been 6 babies born/will be born soon from either employees or employees wives at my work place in the past 6 months. We have about 50 employees, so that seems pretty high in a short period of time. At least they'll have other kids to play with at future company summer parties.

Taking my daughter for her into lesson in martial arts today. Good timing, as I just got a call from the school about her getting into trouble again.

Well, the intro to taekwondo/krav maga went surprisingly well. When I told my daughter that she was going to the class after school, her initial response was to cry, saying that she wasn't brave enough. We met with the master before the class, and he immediately put her at ease and she had a blast. It's not exactly inexpensive, but if this winds up helping her in more ways than one, I'm all for it.

Good stuff. I would suggest sitting in on all the classes and really trying to take what the coach is saying and translate/reinforce it at home.
