My mom has been WFH since early March and my in-laws are retired. But the in-laws have been a little more liberal with their SAH orders so we've been more strict with them and the kids. Definitely no holding or touching the baby for anybody right now.
Every once in a while I have to step back and think of the world my daughter was born into. Not that she knows any better, but wow, what a weird time to be alive. It's sort of a blessing in disguise though as under normal circumstances she'd be in daycare already.

I’m just not taking any chances, as it’s simply not worth the risk. A loved one dying because they wanted to hug somebody? Nope.
My parents miss seeing the kids, but they’d never push to see them in person. Video calls every once in a while have worked well.

Yea we facetime every other day, that seems to stem it, still every once in awhile they do the grandparent type "OHHH BUT CAN'T WE JUST HUG HIM?" Bit.

My kids are older but we’ll stop by once a week at my folks house and they’ll sit on the porch and the kids and my wife and I stand on the lawn. Just about 10 minutes or so, but they like it. And I talk to them daily.

Towards the beginning of the quarantine, we found a children's yoga instructor in Maryland that was doing free Facebook Live classes for kids every morning. We reached out to her to see if we could do a private session on Zolm with our daughter and her friends. Just held the second session today... The kids absolutely love it, we had 12 of her friends show up today. If anyone is interested and has smaller children (under 10) feel free to PM me....highly recommend and it isn't expensive.

Does anyone have strong feelings one way or another about metal vs wood play sets? I'm looking to buy one and I have it narrowed down to two choices - one wood and one metal. The wooden one is cedar, and the metal is Lifetime brand, which I understand is fairly reputable. They both cost about the same, so nothing's really standing out at the moment.

The worst thing about having a wooden play set is having to deal with the nonstop hornets during the summer that hang around it and eat the wood. No nests, but it almost makes it unusable.
In hindsight I wish I would have gotten a composite playground.

We have a wood one. It was a hand me down, but it's still in great shape. I stained it last year and should be good for 5 or so years. So I guess my votes wood just because it's the devil I know.
Speaking of play sets I been thinking about putting timbers and mulch around ours. I can't do rubber. Is wood that bad? Should I just leave it grass?
Rubber would be like 750 bucks. Nah.. I'm good..

Thanks for the input.
I decided to go with this guy:

The extra slide and third story is what pushed it over the edge for me.

What will that put you back?

$1500. Probably more than I wanted, but it's amazing what some of these things cost. I also wanted to get it now instead of later on in the summer when people realize they need something for their kids to do.
We'd love to go to the playground, but who knows when that will be feasible.

The real question is, what's the weight limit on the slide?

That's not bad, compared to what I was expecting. Very cool. The play set that is in our new back yard has two issues:
1. The wood isn't in great shape. Poor kiddo is going to end up with some splinters this summer, for sure.
2. It has a sandbox underneath it. Yuck.
Maybe next summer we'll look to replace it with something like that.

Watched ESB for the first time with my daughter today. What a great moment. Man, I always forget how great that film is. Definitely got choked up at the end with the score.

Our daycare is opening to all on Monday (they were open for essential employees). They’re not charging people that choose to keep their kid home until May 25th. At that point to keep your spot, they’re charging half price for each week until you either send your kid back or the area goes green at which point it will be full cost to save the spot if you don’t want to send your kid back.
At the moment our plan is to send our daughter back June 1.

ANyone else's toddler like to wipe their hands (when they're eating)... in their hair?
I've tried giving napkins, towels, everything. still ends up covered in his hair.

Our son does that every once in awhile, no idea why he does it either.

My daughter had her 7-year well visit this morning. Naturally, the doc saw a rash on her and thought maybe she had strep again. She did.

I am kind of ready to get back to daycare safely. I'm basically working what I can during the day, and then have to work nights because our toddler is a stage 12 clinger. Can't do anything without him around, and if you leave him for a minute he starts screaming.
I felt guilty for saying that now, but my sanity needs silence - we're even considering taking him to my In-Laws house for a day break so we can work.

I hear ya man. Our 7.5 month old will probably be home all summer. My work is kicking back into high gear this week and I'm legitimately worried, despite my wife's assurances that she will carry the load when I am on the phone and whatnot.I am kind of ready to get back to daycare safely. My sister-in-law came to stay a couple weeks with out and watch our little one. I'm expected back at work now that we're in the yellow. My wife is transitioning into a new role this summer. We didn't want to send her back to daycare right away, so having her staying with us to watch mini c2i will be great. We're still planning on sending her back to daycare June 1.

My kid hit stranger danger in the middle of all this so we screamed our head off as the girl took him at daycare. Thought day two would be better but nope. Will be interesting this week to see if anything changed.
Luckily he calms down shortly after leaving but he gave me the silent treatment the whole way home after first day.

Our dog bit our kid’s face this morning. Kid was giving her a treat, kid likes to run around with it for a while till he gives it to her. They went into the hall and before I could get there dog but him giving him a cut above the eye and another close to the jaw line on the side of his face. Luckily it isn’t very deep, so no stitches should be required.
Waiting for the pediatrician to call back to see if he needs antibiotics and/or a tetanus shot. Yay!

That's too bad. Hopefully it isn't anything major.
What are you plans for the dog?

Small cuts. Kid said he missed her when we took her for doggie daycare to separate them. Not going to get rid of the dog. We just won’t allow our kid to give her treats anymore. That's too bad. Hopefully it isn't anything major.

Pediatrician called back and said no on the tetanus shot, but would need to bring him in to see if he needed antibiotics, though we really don’t want to go in. Our retired pediatrician said she would look at him this afternoon so we don’t have to go to a pediatrician office.
