Tomorrow is pajama day at school, which my daughter has been looking forward to for the past two weeks. So, naturally, she winds up with strep throat today and has to stay home until Friday.

Second diagnosis is fibrous dysplasia, slightly better news than enchondroma. Not cysts or tumors, but scar tissue or fibrous material covering the bones of the feet. Not much to do but get x-rays annually to make sure it doesn't get worse or spread. We have two years of x-rays and it hasn't gotten worse.
He should go back to normal sports activity as soon as he's able. No restrictions.
I guess that's good news.

Ugh, sorry man. My daughter was sick last month, and she was so upset because it was her turn to be the helper that day and she didn't want to miss kindergarten. I sent her teacher an email and she let her do it the following day. New year, same story. Send out birthday invitations for my daughter's party, and radio silence from most of the parents. Two kids told her that they couldn't come, but no actual RSVPs. I hate parents like this.

i feel like there needs to be a more mainstream way for doing invites. Like, it is 2019... A friend of mine used 'evite' to text invites but you then need everyone's phone number and I had to give my email just to RSVP.
Facebook is alright but not everyone has it. And you can't ever 'remind' people to RSVP via Facebook invites.
The main reason no one RSVPs is they simply forget. It's a PITA when you're the host, and I've felt that pain before. But I've also been the one that forgot.

I’m sure some forget, but others just don’t care enough to RSVP. One of my dumb friends doesn’t bother unless their kid is attending. For this party, it doesn’t really matter because they’ll take a final head count the day of. It’s the principle of the matter to me. If I had my way, I wouldn’t bother inviting certain people because of this, but my wife wouldn’t hear any of that.

Our first would sleep for several hours all the time in her sleeper. Our second? Not so much... 90% of the time he needs to be on one of us. He just turned two months so I know he is still young, but damn I was spoiled with our first

Our daughter's school has it set up so that you can put money into her account online. Well, we are putting the hammer down on this.
Yesterday (and to her credit she admitted it immediately), she spent a total of EIGHT FCKING DOLLARS on her lunch. She went back for a second helping of chicken fingers, got two ice cream bars, a chocolate milk, and several other things. Needless to say, we had a very stern talk about how buying lunch at school is a privilege and that was a very unhealthy choice.

Sounds like the school is the problem there. My daughter can buy lunch, but cannot buy snacks (ice cream being one of them) until the end of lunch, and even then she can't double-dip.

Yeah I told my wife the same thing last night. It would be nice if there was some accountability on the school end.Sounds like the school is the problem there. My daughter can buy lunch, but cannot buy snacks (ice cream being one of them) until the end of lunch, and even then she can't double-dip.

Ugh, our school does the same stupid thing. We had no idea our son was eating a second breakfast (we feed him before school) of pop tarts and fruit loops cereal until we were told we had a negative balance on our account - an account we never set up.
Once we talked to him he was good about it, but you're letting 6 year olds decide what they can and cannot eat? And letting them buy on credit? Nice teaching program you have there.

Rather have your kids get beat up and their lunch money stolen?
Parents should be allowed to set limits.

My son is now 17. From the age of 5 through the age of probably 12 we intermittently fought the issue of lunch purchases over and over. He'd lose his mind and buy everything, we'd find out, he'd not do it for a few months and then all of a sudden we'd get the email that his lunch account was in the negative. haha. I remember those days.

How much is a regular lunch nowadays? It was like a buck 50 when I was in school. I think I even got reduced lunches (HA POOR) in elementary school when my dad lost his job, and they were like 40 cents.

If I had to guess, lunch is under $4 per day (meal and milk).
Edit: Just checked, $1.60 for breakfast and $2.80 for lunch. Reduced price is $.30 and $.40.

Our district applied for a USDA grant to give every child in the district free breakfast and lunch; we've had it for a few years now. With 50% of the population living below poverty level, there are a lot of kids who know they'll get at least two decent meals a day (and the district has some meals over the summer as well).
It's nice not having to worry about lunch money or lunch tabs either.

My son is 2.5 months old, so he is starting to coo and smile more. Last night, I had just got done changing him, and I was just hanging out with him for a second while he was on the changing pad. He locked eyes with me, and got really quiet, and then his eyes lit up and he just gave me the biggest smile he's ever given for a solid minute. Man, there is no feeling in the world that compares to that.
