Bigger kids I can see wearing shorts. My son is in the single digit percentile for BMI - he’s a rail. Don’t know how he doesn’t freeze without pants.

As a former rail, our legs get really good blood flow and stay warm constantly. As long as I had something to keep my upper body warm, I was good to go.

I kid I went to school with always wore sweatpants in colder weather. It didn't work out to well for him once puberty happened.

I’m tall and (relatively) skinny. I get zero blood flow to my feet and hands. They are always cold. Everything else, perfectly fine.As a former rail, our legs get really good blood flow and stay warm constantly. As long as I had something to keep my upper body warm, I was good to go.

Our SD has a dress code, but nothing absurd like regulating when you can wear shorts. I would fight the school on an issue like that.

I would fight you, too, if it was socially acceptable to hit girls.

My daughter was crying after we put her to bed. I go in and ask what’s wrong.
Her: I’m sad about Ariel’s dress
Me: what?
Her: that dog at the bus stop
*remembering that a dog at the bus stop ate her doll’s dress when it fell to the ground*
Me: oh yeah, sorry about that. Christmas is soon, maybe you’ll get another doll dress
Her: *crying* that dog was hungry for dresses
Took a lot of willpower not to laugh and tell her it was ok.

Yeah, I made my daughter wait until 7am before we opened gifts. Also, I think we’ll be joining team solo next year. Between my niece just screaming bloody murder for 4 hours straight to being hired out of my mind to the overcooked prime rib… I think I’m done. I could have spent the entire day printing 3D stuff with my kid.

Lil mac has been waking up every night the past 4-5. I can tell he's just absolutely stoked for Christmas so I've been just whatever. He's also been feeling less than 100% but today took the cake lol. 4:45 hacking up a lung asking us when he could open presents. We did a breathing treatment and some Delsyn at 5am and he slept until about 7:15. Win in my book. Baby Mac on the other hand was irritated he was awoken at 8 o'clock to open gifts lol

My adult/college aged kids weren't interested in getting up any earlier than usual which was driving my HS Sophomore nuts. She was up before 7, came to get us up at 8:15, and we finally got rolling about 9:30.
It's sort of sad that they don't get as excited anymore, but I also don't mind not getting up before 5 AM.
It will be fun today, I used to make breakfast for the kids and their friends when they'd stay over. One of my oldest's friends once told me "Mr. Franchise, let me know when you are making these crepes again and I'll come over, even if Oldest Franchise isn't around...." Well Oldest Franchise is home for Christmas and his friend is coming over for breakfast. So of course I'm busting out the old standby crepe recipe.

My daughter hasn't completely figured out how to crawl yet. She scoots across the floor without using her legs. I would best compare it to how Lt. Dan from Forest Gump moved around when he was out of his wheelchair.

Are there any non-profit organizations in the Pittsburgh area that take donations of toys that then distributes to areas in need: low income homes, orphanages, daycares, etc.?
Our kid's toys are in good condition and I'd be more interested in putting them towards something useful than a yard sale or our local Goodwill.

I'd check out local foster support networks. There are non-profits that take donations and set up "shopping" for the foster families where they can come and get free clothes, toys, necessities. Are there any non-profit organizations in the Pittsburgh area that take donations of toys that then distributes to areas in need: low income homes, orphanages, daycares, etc.?

There is one in my town called new hope ministries. I'm sure there are some in your area. Also a PITA but I did find out there are community "buy nothing" groups on Facebook where people post free stuff. Are there any non-profit organizations in the Pittsburgh area that take donations of toys that then distributes to areas in need: low income homes, orphanages, daycares, etc.?

That's a good thought. I know the director of Western PA Ministries. I'll send her an email and see if there are any in our network or near by.

In what I feel like has become standard for all kids, my daughter needs a few teeth realigned, so we'll be scheduling her first orthodontist visit soon. Her dentist said that this is minor, so I guess that's the good news.
