I know he didn't have a great season last year (no Red Sock did) but we're 3 years removed from a world series and we look like a bottom of the barrel team with no future

The Red Sox are an extremely impressive organization. They have had three different championship team iterations in the last 15 years, to have two separate retools / rebuilds is pretty amaziballs. They will probably tank this year, and then be in the playoffs again in 2022. Doesn't seem like they got much from Benitendi, but he's a corner outfielder with limited power, he's not a massive commodity, looks like his good season was an outlier.

Wondered what was going on with Sale and saw that he had TJ surgery in March last year, and is likely to be held out most of 2020. So that makes lots of sense. Look for them to take a mulligan in 2021 and retool for 2022.

yeah, for some reason we have championship years and then go dormant for a couple of years. I'm more worried now than I've been at any point in the last 20 years though

at least for 04-13 we had Papi anchoring the organization and the '18 was Mookie being an MVP and Price finally not sucking. I'm very unhopeful at the current moment. I don't think there's a clera path to being competitive atm

I could see how it would be difficult for a Pirates fan to understand that some teams try and win. They spend money, sign free agents, develop talent organizationally, etc. The revenue share is nice and all but it's not the core factor for existing. Weird, crazy.
