I haven’t read anything to the effect. Not saying it’s not true, just saying I haven’t seen that as the reason it didn’t happen.

I think I said earlier, I can't see the NFL doing it, because it would mean they'd be in a bubble for 4-6 months if they play a full season (including training camp, playoffs, etc). I don't blame anyone for not wanting to do that. Also, the roster size, etc would be difficult.

Baseball, if they were playing a full 162 game season, I couldn't see it. But a 60 game truncated season that would be 2 months, then maybe they could have done it.

College FB, (or college athletics in general), ain't going to happen.

Yeah, NFL is too long of a haul to expect players to sequester for the full season. I hope they're paying close attention to the MLB situation, though, because they'll face the exact same challenges. I don't know how you prevent it without quarantining everybody.

At least with NFL and CFB there is a limited amount of travel and game related exposure compared to MLB.

As with everything regarding this, it comes down to personal responsibility. You want to play, stay isolated. Don’t go to strip clubs or bars. You’re a college kid and want to stay on campus, be smart and don’t go to frat parties.

Amazing that I could go to Iraq and Afghanistan for a year at a time for less than $40k a year, but these millionaires can't endure 2-3 months for their profession. Maybe it's time to take them off their pedestal.

The biggest problem is these young players can't help themselves. Didnt it come out yesterday that a bunch of Marlins were in some packed bar in Atlanta?

Cut the league down to 17 teams and then maybe the Pirates will have a shot at the playoffs.

Odds would still be against us.

I could end up being completely wrong here, but I don’t think this is that alarming. Seems kind of expected under their plan. You get positives, postpone games, keep going. The big concern is several teams with several positives.

How many is several? Right now we have two teams with multiple positives. Three if you count the Phillie’s coach and clubhouse employee.

I think if you’ve got 8 teams with five or more positives. Just pulling numbers out of the air though.

I hate to be macabre here, but wouldn't it matter how "positive" they are?

In other words if these are asymptomatic test positives would that be different than say dudes in the hospital?

Aren't we already in a situation where multiple teams would have to play like 56 games in 55 days or something, and getting worse?

In regards to controlling an outbreak? No, not really. It would definitely be better for the individual, of course.

Team outbreaks is the big thing. People are going to get it. They just are. If its a guy here and there, they isolate them and move on.

I think what we're seeing with the cardinals/brewers is extra extra extra caution in an effort to avoid another marlins situation.

If they can get out of this without the phillies having an outbreak, I'll feel a lot better about the long term prospects of this season finishing, albeit a bastardized version with 7 inning double headers.

Yep its on the brink here. A second Marlins situation ends it IMO.

I agree. However, when you’re talking about a bastardized version, that horse is already out of the barn. It’s a 60 game season.

With a free runner on 2nd in extras...

Yeah, all that. This season is what it is. For baseball, it’s about them getting money. For fans, it’s about getting to see live sports.

Is the runner on 2nd in extras just a COVID thing or will that be a full time rule moving forward?
