Scherzer with a brilliant start today to put the Cards in a 2-0 hole. Oh darn.

Meh, the AL series has plenty to go, especially considering the Astros’ best two pitchers haven’t gone yet.

Pretty cool that the nationals finally put it all together after Harper is gone. The cardinals would get steamrolled by the Yankees or Astros, the nats could make the ws interesting.

I appreciated Correa doing the Hulk Hogan ear taunt.

I suppose one way to hide a bad bullpen is to hang a touchdown in the bottom of the first. Crazy seeing the Nats dominate when they really ought to have not gotten out of the wildcard game.

Just absurdly good numbers. And this is an era that the MLB is juicing balls.

How the Houston Astros used analytics to help Gerrit Cole become one of the best pitchers in baseball

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/how-t ... mod=sports

Gerrit Cole walked into a conference room after one of his first spring training workouts with the Houston Astros in February 2018 and was met by about 10 people.

“There was charts, video, matching charts,” Cole recalled. “It was all new then, but it’s pretty straightforward to me now.”

I don’t like how they don’t really call it the “NL pennant” anymore

Astros might need Cole to pitch every game to get past the Yankees.

one my buddies was saying the astros use balls that are favorable to pitches giving them higher spin rates than others

Isn't the league in control of the balls and the New Jersey mud nonsense.

Yeah. There's been theories on their use of pine tar and whatnot though. Which is BS because everyone does it. Might as well legalize it but that's an argument for another day

Game 4 postponed tonight and that could mean we might see Greinke tomorrow night and Verlander in Game 5. As much as I dislike Greinke and don't think he's any good, I think that should be the strategery the 'Stros use.

For the first time since the 1910s, the New York Yankees will complete a decade without having appeared in a World Series.
