Trout is batting 355/469/689/1158 in 257 ABs. Chris Davis is batting a majestic 150/227/227/454 in 207 ABs. It would actually take 440 hitless at-bats for Trout's OPS to fall down to .4536

Conversely, it would take Chris Davis 43 consecutive homeruns, 53 consecutive triples, 86 consecutive doubles, or 205 consecutive singles for his OPS to rise above Trout's current mark.

Chris Davis is currently in the third year of a seven year contract. He's making the Ryan Howard contract look good.

Hanley Ramirez reportedly eyed in federal and state investigation for possible ties to 'substantial' drug ring

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/hanley-ram ... 28660.html
“There has been some reports about a FaceTime phone call that was made between a man during a car stop. After that car stop, police recovered a significant amount of drugs. And during that car stop, the suspect claimed that one of the items found in the vehicle belonged to Hanley Ramirez and then FaceTimed [Ramirez] in front of police. And that car stop coordinated with the timing of his release from the Red Sox.”

McPhee reported that the suspect who was pulled over — a person who was not Ramirez — was found with “435 grams of fentanyl as well as a large amount of crack cocaine.”

“There is a sweeping federal case involving a substantial ring that’s being operated out of Lawrence, Massachusetts,” McPhee said. “And I think the suspect had ties to that ring.”

Not MLB-related but won’t start a new thread for it...Went to Omaha for 4 days of the College World Series and in doing so, had an all-time sports moment happen when I got to see my cousin hit a home run for North Carolina.

Back to regularly scheduled programming already in progress.

For one more victory, I am ready to be perfectly OK if none of my schools (currently Pitt and Arkansas) ever win any national championship in my lifetime (not that there is a huge chance of that happening  ) ! Ho Hogs!!

RBI single by Tim Tebow in the 10th inning gives the Binghamton Rumble Ponies a lead.

He's now 3-for-5 tonight with a homer and is hitting .276 for the season.

Why not steal the NHL's All Star format for the MLB?

I'd watch that...

Because MLB has the best all star game of the major sports and messing with it is a dumb idea

But I think it’s lost a lot of its luster with interleague play. I used to really like watching pitchers hit in the All Star Game (and World Series, of course), but now we see that all the time.

On a related note, the Home Run Derby is having trouble getting legit home run hitters to actually play in the derby. The new format is exhausting and it alters their swings for the second half. Aaron Judge peaced out of this year’s derby because he felt his second half slump was caused by the altered swing at the derby. Other players have said similar things. It will be interesting to see the Brewers’ Aguilar’s numbers post-HR derby.

Once inter league play started, the novelty of the All-Star game was lost. Baseball is about one on one matchups, and it doesn’t really matter who you’re playing with on your team. Not really sure how you fix it to bring back an interest factor.
