For the first time since the 1910s, the New York Yankees will complete a decade without having appeared in a World Series.

I preferred the Yankees to the astros in that series.

Such an arbitrary stat. I’ll take the Yankees of the 2010’s over the stretch of seasons between ‘81 to ‘93 when they never made the playoffs and were often really bad. They’ve made the playoffs in this stretch and lost to better teams. Dumb Yankee fans just seem to think it’s their birthright to go to a World Series every year.

Lol, it's just supposed to be a fun calendar stat.

I get that, but that’s not how some writers and fans portray it.

Nice to see the Nats realize they're going to have to go all-out to manufacture runs. Would've worked if he hadn't bunted it 40 feet into the air.

It upsets me that we won't see Verlander vs Scherzer. Oh well

Nats bullpen is the only weakness between either team really. If I were the Nats I'd use Sanchez as a middle reliever if Stras and Corben can't go more than 5 in the next two games and try to get Scherzer to go on short rest

If the Nats are pitching anyone but Scherzer, Strasburg, Corben, Sanchez, Hudson ans Dolittle it probably means they're getting blown out

It'd be great not to rely on Scherzer on short rest if possible. He was fortunate to get the result he did last night.

I went to bed and just saw this but good Lord. Cost yourself a triple and eventually the tying run skipping like a jackass down to first.

Oh man. Easy triple, still one out, could have tied the game on a sac fly. This is why the adage "act live you've been there before" was invented.

Yes, Springer should have sprinted out of the box and if he had, he’d have been on 3rd. But Tucker had gone back to tag for whatever reason and Springer had a concern about running him off the bases which is warranted. Hopefully this is a lesson to these guys to stop getting lost in a ‘look at me’ moment and just play the damn game. Acuna did a similar thing and it cost him.

Nats are up 2-0 without an out in the game yet. Not bad.

Thanks Orchid.

I don't think it's just home plate. When Turner slid back into first earlier you could clearly hear him exclaim "Ow, that hurt." There are some hot mics out there.

Nice effort, Verlander.

Most entertaining thing to happen so far. He went full turtle then threw the ball at himself.
