I guess I'd have to be an Indian to get it. I've never once looked at that and thought to myself, yep that's how I picture them. Same for any logo.

I guess for me I never thought a logo of anything but that.

What would even be a close comparable that’s not also a Native American mascot? Only one i can come up with is Padres.
The old Islanders logo. I'd be livid if I were a fisherman.

Since the first time I saw that 25 years ago and it has never ceased to be such an obscene strawman. Literally every human mascot of every professional and Collegiate team is a gross caricature of its intended namesake.
What’s the human upside of you taking this position?
That actual Native Americans when polled on this issue (and the Redskins) not only do not care, but do not find it offensive.

I think Steel Workers were genuinely offended by Steely McBeam.

True story... Steely McBeam killed my sister's goldfish.

She was at a fair with a friend and they both won a goldfish playing a game. While walking around, they encountered Steely McBeam who grabbed tbe bag with her fish and shook it.

What an asshat.

Things are getting weird with the unsigned players and the Boras clients having a special special training camp. Either way, MLB needs both a real cap and floor.

Unsurprisingly the nutting haters are out on Twitter talking about this is what a team that wants to win looks like.

There is no chance even if nothing wanted to spend all kinds of money the Pirates could sign Darvish

That’s like marrying a 300 pound woman and then complaining that her wedding gown wasn’t a size 4.

For some reason, I've never been that sold on Darvish as an elite pitcher.

MLB business side q's:

Is the small market tuition assistance program still split with the top half of teams in total salary paying the bottom half some amount? How do you qualify now for
This entitlement program and what's the payment per year/where do Pirates stack up?

Former Pirate Esteban Loaiza arrested on cocaine and heroin possession charges.
Holy cow, when I read this, I had no idea just how bad it was. I thought he might be a junkie. And then...

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2240 ... rams-drugs
Former All-Star pitcher Esteban Loaiza has been arrested on suspicion of trafficking drugs after packages containing a white powder believed to be cocaine were found at a home he rented in Southern California, officials said Monday.

Loaiza, 46, was booked Friday on charges involving the possession, transport and sale of 20 kilograms (44 pounds) of suspected cocaine worth an estimated $500,000, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
He was a damn drug kingpin.

Wow. That’s a far cry from the free agency numbers that used to get bandied about for Watson, who improved significantly once the Pirates got rid of him last season. Third year is a player option so he has the choice of guaranteed money or a second attempt at a less screwed up free agency period.

Pirates should have signed him at that price.
