Guess I'll go back to yelling at kids to stay off my lawn.
You know something all those clips showed? Crowds, important games, big moments.
Tim thinks he's Jackie because he needs to be able to show boat during a spring matinee between two cellar dwellers.

I didn't realize he actually compared himself to Jackie Robinson. That's a little extreme. I commend his bat flip crusade but comparing yourself to Jackie Robinson is a bit overboard

Crowds.. maybe people would show up in the Spring if games were less of a snoozefest

Yeah, and it seems like zero people mentioned it.

Did the analytics people ruin that stat as well?

Here’s a weird stat: Joey Gallo has hit more homeruns (100) than singles (93) in his MLB career. First time that’s happened.

The analytics geeks lost their minds because it took 130+ pitches for him to do it.

Glasnow out 4-6 weeks

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2672 ... arm-strain
Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow will miss four to six weeks after an MRI showed he has a mild right forearm strain, the team announced Saturday.

Glasnow has been placed on the 10-day injured list. He left his start against the visiting New York Yankees in the sixth inning Friday.

The 25-year-old motioned to the Rays' dugout after striking out Gleyber Torres on a curveball. Tampa Bay's athletic training staff went to the mound and briefly chatted with Glasnow, who quickly walked off the mound and into the Rays' clubhouse.

"I don't really know what's going on right now," Glasnow said after the game. "I'm just going to be optimistic. It wasn't a pop or anything crazy. I just felt tightness for a couple pitches."

The team said Glasnow will be shut down from throwing for seven to 10 days.

Inject this stuff into my veins. The only thing that kind of ruins it is that the Phillies are still in first place thanks to their shtty division.

Down to .219. .147 since late April.

Really good read on the rise of velocity in the MLB, with a corresponding rise in strikeouts and drop in batting average:
Baseball’s timeless appeal is predicated upon an equilibrium between pitching and hitting, and in the past, when that equilibrium has been thrown off, the game has always managed, either organically or through small tweaks, to return to an acceptable balance.

But there is growing evidence that essential equilibrium has been distorted by the increasing number of pitchers able to throw the ball harder and faster. Rising pitch velocity has altered the sport, many believe, and not necessarily in a good way.

“It’s changed some dynamics,” Pittsburgh Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle said. “The pitching side jumped ahead of the hitting side from my perspective, and now we’re playing catch-up on the offensive side.”

The 2018 season was the first in history in which strikeouts outpaced hits, a trend that has accelerated so far in 2019. The ball is in play less than ever, with a record 35.4 percent of plate appearances in 2019 resulting in a strikeout, walk or home run. Teams are using an average of 3.3 relievers per game in 2019, just below last year’s all-time record of 3.4. The leaguewide batting average of .245 in 2019 is the lowest since 1972, and a drop of 26 points from 1999, at the height of the steroids era. The leaguewide strikeout rate of 8.78 per nine innings, also a record, is higher than the career rate of Roger Clemens.

I'd have a lot easier of a time rooting for the Blues if their fans weren't Cards fans

Harold Baines and Lee Smith elected to the HOF :?
Lee Smith was really good with the Cubs. Harold Baines was on the White Sox but we never saw the American league so I only remember the name/baseball card.

I think this is the 4th or 5th year in a row my dad's had a player drafted. Pretty pumped to see his first one make the big show. Next September probably
