*a moment of fun happens*
Blue: GTFO
(only quoted so I didn't get meow'd)

That isn't fun. That's just childish and dumb. Plus it was delaying the start of the game. We had this immature crap trickle down into high school games a couple years ago and we were given the authority the following year to eject players if the continued the 'standoff'. What the hell is it proving?

Agreed. What, are you supposed to let them stand there for five minutes?

I think I'm okay with it because I don't believe the anthem should be played before sporting events and this mockery of it amuses me.

4th all time is a bigger achievement imo and I disagree with the roided up thing

I guess we'll never know but how do you explain his performance this year?

He's hit 4 more HRs than last year with 40 more plate appearances. It's not some freakish jump. Dudes been really good for 20 years and had a hot couple months

HR by season:
2017 -23
2018 -19
2019 -23
2021 -17
2022 -21

It's not even an outlier relative to recent seasons. In am era where everyone hits 20 homers is it really that farfetched to think a guy coming into the year with 680 could pop off another 20...

OK, you win.

It seemed like I was hearing daily about his home runs but that makes sense now.

It's also really weird to me that Pujols is definitely juicing but judge definitely isn't

The judge thing is cool. He's very good. But if some Bucco was in the race for the most pirate HRs in a season no one would give two shits outside of Pittsburgh

More than just the most for a team but the most for the league. ;)

I know, the AL/NL separation is gone now.

yeah. The fact that teams will play every team next year is annoying. Interleague play felt special previously. Now it just feels like a dumb marketing thing

I don't think it is a coincidence Judge reached this mark the year they effectively did away with AL/NL.

I saw a weird stat on Twitter this morning: Aaron Judge struck out 167 times this season. Tony Gwynn struck out 434 times...in 20 seasons.

Baseball is weird.

i met my first real yankees fan the other day. it was disorienting. i'd met people that root for the yankees of course but this was an old, wiry, energetic new yorker yankees fan with a sweet retro hat. he's a good guy and all but once baseball was brought up it was like we had no idea how to communicate. we live in such different worlds and echo chambers. he tried to console me about being a pirates fan but in a way that didn't make any sense to me. he talked about Judge and the record with a reverence that surprised me and he had prepared defenses that he offered as if he thought i was going to attack him. i don't think i said ten words. i guess he thought since i was a pirates fan i couldn't talk about baseball. and it was annoying because he was right. it was like we wanted to talk about politics but he wanted to talk about the daily smears and gossips and i wanted to discuss the constitution.

Gwynn is so good, what a pure hitter. Probably have to put Williams first, but Gwynn was also routinely facing some of the best pitchers of his generation. Hell, he had more hits off of Greg Freaking Maddux than any other pitcher!

Honestly I am very tired of this Maris record talk and Bonds slander/fabrication ESPN wants to go with. They're practically ignoring that Bonds was superior in every way, and treating Judge as if he's the second coming of Christ because he's wearing pinstripes.

Wait until he goes to the Red Sox or Dodgers, and everyone in NYC turns on him immediately.

If judge was anything but a Yankee, and if bonds was anything but an dadhole, nobody would care about this.

At any rate, as a baseball fan, it's sick to see a guy hit 60. I just learned yesterday that only 47 times has somebody hit 50 in a season.
