I think it's awesome in itself. There's no other need to try and re-capture history for the sake of a story, imo.
I especially love it - because the Yankees offered low on him, and he has hit basically the mega-jackpot all through his own doing. That's fantastic.

Roger Maris Jr. should shut the **** up and continue doing nothing other than being named after his father.

I don’t think that’s really true. The only other people to reach 61 were proven steroid users. Is it possible judge is as well? Certainly. But he’s theoretically being tested. And if he were in a different team it would still be a big deal.If judge was anything but a Yankee, and if bonds was anything but an dadhole, nobody would care about this.
At any rate, as a baseball fan, it's sick to see a guy hit 60. I just learned yesterday that only 47 times has somebody hit 50 in a season.

eh, the testing thing doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Bonds never tested positive either (from a league administered test) because there are some good drugs out there that can avoid positive testsI don’t think that’s really true. because I’m a salty Red Sox fan I will choose to believe Judge is juicing but obviously I have no evidence for that outside of me being salty. I fully accept if you guys think I’m a loser for that but thus is the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry
The Pujols thing is very sketchy however…not just because of the home runs he’s hit this year but how many he has in the last two months. He has 14 since the start of August which puts him on a pace for 42 or so for a full season; which he hasn’t had since 2015 (40)

no you see Barry was the only dishonest one mashing on those poor clean pitcherswhy do we still care about steroids? everyone was doing it. bonds et all were just still way better than everyone else. it was good for the game

It's best to just assume everyone is and has been juicing forever, and the stupid ones that get caught are just dumb or not rich enough for the good stuff.

All true, which is really why I don't care about baseball.
It's very much a 1 on 1 sport, pitcher versus batter. So if you're as good as you are because you got the hook up with the best drugs the only part that's you is hand-eye coordination (and even that can be improved pharmaceutically). And everybody is on some level of something.
Bonds was the best of his contemporaries, but to compare him all time is a hell of a lot harder. So "all-time home run king" means something totally different to me now than it did before 1998.

To me, "all-time home run King" means you hit the ball over the outfield fence the most times

Guys play in the era that they play in. Judge plays now. Bonds played in the PED era. Babe Ruth played in the cigarettes and whores era. Different advantages relative to one another.
Think Bonds knew about launch angles? Babe Ruth's bat was a **** 2x4 ffs

I felt old yesterday talking to some people at work about Judge hitting 61 and comparing to Bonds, Sosa, Mcgwire.
A few of the guys were like "yeah, I remember when they broke the record and then eventually got up to 73", and the one guy we work with was like "I wasn't even born yet". The rest of us were like "WTF, we're old".
It feels like yesterday, but in reality was 20+ years ago.

Last night Ohtani had a no hitter through 8 innings and got 2 base hits to keep his hitting streak of 14 or 15 games alive. He's unreal. Again, it's a shame he's on a **** team on the West Coast.

Hard to say we'll ever see a player like Ohtani again. He should get it, hands down. F the Yankees

if Judge gets 62 and the triple crown he wins it. If he gets to 62 or the triple crown he has a 60% chance to win it. If he doesn’t get either than Shohei wins it

Ohtani is not top 10 in offensive or defensive WAR.
I mean ohtani should still be 1.1 in everybody's franchise draft but idk if the 12th best hitter should be MVP simply because he's also the 12th best pitcher. But then again maybe he should
