Literally a ball or a strike is awardedIs there a punishment to either the batter or pitcher if either dawdles and the pitch isn't thrown in time? The pitch clock in Altoona when I went the other day is an unbelievable blessing bestowed upon the game of baseball

isn’t it a strike if the batter takes too long and a ball of the pitcher does?

Soon they'll be banning the curveballIt's actually hard to hit the other way believe it or notAgree with the pitch clock, not so much the shift. Players used to take the time to learn to hit the ball the other way. They refuse to do so now, so defenses have (rightfully) adjusted. Where's the harm in that?
MLB
Yeah. Maybe Ted Williams should have just learned to hit better

Are shifts allowed in MiLB? Gotta figure no shift could equal more scoring and longer game times again.
That said, maybe we'll see less of this HR or K bullstuff and people will actually try to hit balls in play again

Nah I think banning the shift won't affect how they swing for the fences. I think MLB is trying to allow more of those seeing eye singles to occur, thus getting more men on base for the eventual HR ball.
The past 2-3 years when the HR or bust mentality took over, the overall runs scored in MLB has been down. Most of that has to do with BAs being down as well, so eliminating the shift is MLB's way of increasing scoring again.

It is a real shame seeing Juan Soto having a bad time with the Padres. Pity.

Awesome for Albert. Now get to 700. Six more games against the Pirates so he might have a shot at the Babe.

This guy is such a prick. Rules the ball got "wedged" in the fence from home plate with three other umpires closer to the ball. The smug look on his face afterwards sells it.

what does the rule book say on that? I’m no Angel Hernandez apologist but my first instinct was that if it got caught in the wall at all it would be a ground rule double
isn’t that the rule in Wrigley with the ivy?
