I am very excited for the DH to be expanded to the NL. Only 4+ decades late.

The DH is communist totalitarianism.

If you’re a great starter you don’t need to worry about it.

I'm just an old guy that still has some actual money in my pocket. I do also have a couple debit\credit cards, but I don't get this cashless stadium thing. I guess someday cash will be outlawed.

Many would argue that the atmosphere at the Concrete Jungle is joyless, noiseless, and hopeless to go along now with cashless. BY FAR, the worst place in MLB.

So Machado heads to San Diego to slowly be forgotten. Can't say I blame him, 10 years, $300 mil and living in the best climate in America is nothing to sneeze at.
God would I love to see the Phillies lose out on Harper, but they will probably offer him 11 years $350 million or something absurd now.

Teaming back up with Jordy. Tigers are really gonna suck.Free-agent infielder Josh Harrison in agreement with the #Tigers on a one-year contract, pending physical, source tells The Athletic. Expected to their everyday second baseman.

The Bryce Harper stuff is insufferable. I hope Philly gets jilted. This isn't like basketball where one player can realistically turn a team from a cellar dweller into a contender. We're talking about a guy whose WAR was a whopping 1.3 in 2018, and who is likely to be looking more like Chris Davis than Mike Trout in five years.
MLB
Yeah, I'm loving the Harper thing. I wish Machado hadn't gotten signed as that takes the sting out of it, but these decade contracts are bad for teams.

Looks like Harper to Phils is a done deal.
13 years - $330 million.

It's an interesting bet against himself.
If he turned down the reported 10 year deal worth 300 million from Nationals, he is basically saying, "I don't think at 35 I'll be worth 3 years/30 million."
It may be correct, but if he's still producing at 36, he cost himself a bit of money. Although at these numbers, what does it matter?
Ego play to get the most at one time.

I think it's pretty safe bet that he wouldn't be getting a 30mm contract at age 35.

He apparently wants long term stability and got a full NTC and no opt outs.

Well, Phillies definitely didn't follow the Astros/Cubs model. I commend them for that, they got tired of being irrelevant so they spent a bunch of money and dealt their best prospect.

Was really hoping he would go (away) to the west coast.

It sucks living in a market with a competing team that wants to win. Makes it tempting to jump ship.
