See. I wasn't going to say anything. But that clip right there kind of embodies my lack of reverence for Vin Scully. It's stupid, but held up as endearing simply because it's him. I realize I'm a few decades late and he wasn't for me, but I never understood the love for him.

Yeah, I understand I'm the extreme outlier here and do not expect to change anyone.

I held it in as long as I could. At least half a day.

Scully was genuine, quirky and passionate about baseball. It’s hard for me to not appreciate that

He did a solo broadcast for decades. Sometimes you get stories like that, I guess. Different strokes

Baseball has so much dead time you need to fill it. Scully was good at that. Stories are as much how you tell the story as the story itself, and imo he was a good storyteller.

The other day Greg Brown was talking about the unbelievable attendance on Saturday night against the Phillies and how excited the city is about the young up and comers.

No mention of the fact that it was 80% Phillies fans

@dodint should be sentenced to having to watch games broadcast in Hungarian, no matter what the sport. Dislike not just Emrick but also Scully? Wow.

If you are looking for commonality between the two I'd say I don't enjoy announcers that take it upon themselves to be the show. See also: Leigh Diffey, Joe Buck.

Hmm. If Vin isn't your style, that's cool and I don't think anyone will argue over taste. But trying to be the show? I'd argue he was the opposite

Oh man. I don't think I've ever watched that whole video. It's hilarious and I truly hope he's overcome his fear.

Ive always enjoyed listening to the walkout music of Hoffman with ‘Hells Bells’ and Rivera with ‘Enter Sandman’. Diaz using ‘Narco’ is also pretty good.

I was about to post the same thing, @Ad@m. To me, Narco is the perfect 'announcing your presence' song and it's almost like the matador is entering the arena to take on the bull (aka the 9th inning).

That rules.

I put 20 on the Mets to win the WS, betting on dominant pitching here
