This just wouldn't work imo. Good luck designing a piece of protective headgear that will not twist and jostle around during the pitchers wind up and delivery.unpopular opinion - pitchers need protective headgear. someone will die
Not to mention that in the history of baseball, going back to the 1800s, only one player (Ray Chapman, in 1920) was killed by a batted ball.

looking at historical data will not provide the solution for the future. exit velocity is increasing annually. pitchers are more at harm.
