Ridiculous, lol. Isn't Boston's owner a multi-billionaire?

That's an embarrassment that a team like the Red Sox feels like they have to trade a franchise player like Betts.

Well, Boston could easily turn around and sign betts since they got them to take price.
I think it’s just a statement that Boston sees themselves clearly below the Yankees in 2020

Ex-Astros pitcher Charlie Morton on sign-stealing scandal: 'I regret not doing more to stop it'

“I was aware of the banging. You could hear the banging. being in the dugout you could hear it. I don’t know when it dawned on me but you knew it was going on,” Morton said.
"Personally, I regret not doing more to stop it. I don’t know what that would have entailed. I think the actions would have been somewhat extreme to stop it. That’s a hypothetical.”
Morton also said:
"I certainly have thought about it a lot because it negatively impacted the game, and people’s perception of the game, the fans, opposing players. And that doesn’t sit well with me. ... Where I was at the time, I don’t know where I was, because what’s wrong is wrong. And I’ll never be absolved of that.”

Meh, I think it’s just a business calculation. He said he was worth x to stay with the team. They didn’t feel he was and wanted to make sure they got a return. Can’t really blame him if he didn’t want to sign with them and can’t really blame the Red Sox for trading him.Well, Boston could easily turn around and sign betts since they got them to take price.

Thanks to the idiot Red Sux not doing their homework on Graterol, they're balking at taking him on because of his medical past. The Twins are about to say thanks but no thanks and thus, this whole deal is about to be nixed. Red Sux open camp next Saturday so it's very possible Price and Betts show up in Ft. Myers rather than wherever in Arizona the Dodgers have their camp. That won't be awkward or anything.

He was on the damn playoff roster and had 2 K’s in his one inning against the Yankees. He’s the #3 prospect and #1 pitcher in our farm system. Any idiot worth their baseball sense working in a front office could have taken a half day researching to realize what role Graterol was pointed towards. I think the Twins still have hopes of him as a starter but with his stuff, that’s kinda foolish. But since we have a closer already, we could stand to try to develop him more. That said, I want a proven starter like Maeda rather than potential. The time to win is now and there’s no patience for potential.Seems like it’s more likely the Red Sox didn’t like the backlash to the trade than they didn’t know that Graterol’s medicals and makeup. There wasn’t really anything hidden there.

I think that they used Betts to dump Price's contract seems to me that they see 2020 as a retooling season. I got one view from Boston, my FIL expressed some angst about Betts' determination to go the FA market. I think they offered him a 300mm+ deal, I honestly don't think he gets that on the open market. My impression is that Betts was determined to go to FA, it really didn't even matter how much Boston offered.Meh, I think it’s just a business calculation. It's clearly a business decision in that sense, but I don't think they make that trade if they see 2020 as a potential WS team.

The logic behind trading Betts so they can dump Price’s contract, which is what the trade always seemed like to me, kinda goes out the window now that the Sox are picking up half of Price’s remaining contract.

I think that still holds. Boston doesn't dump salaries to save money, they dump salaries to get further from the luxury tax. So whatever salary the dodgers are picking up, gives the Red Sox space to add.The logic behind trading Betts so they can dump Price’s contract, which is what the trade always seemed like to me, kinda goes out the window now that the Sox are picking up half of Price’s remaining contract.

I'd rather have less than more.

A little more complicated than I thought, but still think I like it. Best record gets a really big advantage. Other division winners also get a nice advantage. Best wild card (which could easily be the team with second best record) gets an advantage. And other wild cards get no home games. In this concept, the team with the best record in each league would receive a bye to avoid the wild-card round and go directly to the Division Series. The two other division winners and the wild card with the next best record would each host all three games in a best-of-three wild-card round. So the bottom three wild cards would have no first-round home games.
The division winner with the second-best record in a league would then get the first pick of its opponent from those lower three wild cards, then the other division winner would pick, leaving the last two wild cards to play each other.

After 162 games I am not in favor of having anything in play that could lead to a fluke championship. 14 of the 30 teams in the playoffs lessens the meaning of playing 162 ****ing games and the arguable 14th best team could get hot and win a title. Pass
