Also, as consistently good as Thome was, he was never really considered one of the top players of his generation. He’s a tough one for me. Is it as good to put up very good numbers for 20 years to put up amazing numbers for 12 - 15 years?

Lets put it this way: there was only a handful of seasons where thome was the best hitter on his team let alone the league. Granted he played with some greats, but even then, you gotta stand out at least one in a while.Agree on Bonds.

Who are the shortstops that are better than Jeter all-time? Very short list.
