Why not just use a speaker system? Hernandez would find a way to **** up relaying "ball". Take it out of his hands.

There’s a lot to be said about that video and I am most certainly not the person to say any of it

possibly for the aviation thread but I would’ve assumed that the teams would own their own jets; not charter them through an airline. Especially not United
I guess that means the Rays probably use Spirit

Dodgers are first in the West without the following available to pitch so far
Buehler
Kershaw
Ohtani
May
Gonsolin
Literally a DL full of guys better than the pirates rotation (and most rotations to be fair)
Not to mention Urias but he's a turd

Betts and Ohtani already are worth 2.0 war and 1.1 war respectively. The combined war of all pirates position players is somewhere in the 2.0 range.

Ohtani just passed Matsui for most HRs by a Japanese player in the MLB. Kind of surprised it already happened but I guess that goes to show how prolific he’s been

I never knew he had ~10 years in the NPB before he had come over. He’s one of the very rare Yankees that I don’t despise

Matsui wasn't really a big home run guy though. Gap hitter and very low K rate. Tons of RBI

I love Boone’s incredulity
also, technical question…what is the “mic” in that situation? is some tech aiming one of those radar things at the ump?

I believe there are parabolic-type mics on the screen behind home plate that are pointed toward the plate and I'd imagine the audio engineer turned the dial way up to be able to pick up what Wendelstadt and Boone were saying in their argument.

Briefly stuck my head in here and saw this. There's always a thread on this subject on airliners.net. The vast majority of teams do not own their own aircraft. The Tigers and Astros share private jets with the Red Wings and Rockets, respectively (a Boeing 767 and 737). The Athletics charter from a company called MLW Aviation, which is partially owned by Mark Cuban, the Rangers charter from New Pacific Airlines, and the Blue Jays charter from Air Canada. The others:
Delta: Braves (duh, Atlanta), Cardinals, Diamondbacks, Giants, Mariners, Marlins, Mets, Padres, Padres, Rays, Red Sox, Reds, Twins, Yankees
United: Angels, Brewers, Cubs, Dodgers, Guardians, Orioles, Pirates, Rockies, Royals, White Sox
American: Nationals
The Pirates appear to be UA3784, if anyone wants to follow their travels.
A lot of the Delta charters are going to be on NBA-owned aircraft. The NBA owns the rights to 11 757-200s, which are leased to and operated by Delta. Those 757s are set up with 72 all-first-class seats, and IIRC all of the NBA teams except the Mavs and Rockets fly those aircraft. Delta has the rights to use them when not needed by the NBA, so the NHL, MLB, and college teams use them when not needed for the NBA, and the NBA gets a cut.

They'd be dropping the ball on the title defense without this signing.
