If I was the ump, I put the kid on first and get the next batter up. Let them play it out. But that would require an imo admitting they made a mistake and that’ll never happen.

what mistake did the ump make?If I was the ump, I put the kid on first and get the next batter up. Let them play it out. But that would require an imo admitting they made a mistake and that’ll never happen.
it was a dropped third strike, catcher missed the tag and looked at the ump who called the runner safe. It’s pretty clearly a mistake by the catcher

He did not perform the proper signal for a dropped third strike.what mistake did the ump make?If I was the ump, I put the kid on first and get the next batter up. Let them play it out. But that would require an imo admitting they made a mistake and that’ll never happen.

I guess that’s technically true but that’s being pretty nitpicky imo. Both the catcher and the batter knew it was a dropped third strike. The catcher went for the tag, missed, the ump indicated to the catcher that the runner was safe and the catcher decided it was over

Like I said, the right thing to do there is put the kid on first, advance the other runner and bring the next kid up to bat. Not to mention it wasn’t even a strike. Lol

I honestly had to look it up to remind myself. It’s the ump pointing out with his right handWhat’s the proper signal for a dropped third strike?
but like I said it’s a super nitpicky complaint by c2i. The catcher would never see the ump make this signal

You say strike, you don’t do the strike three “out” motion, and you hold your right arm out.

You would have an even bigger **** show on your hands if you did that than what occurred.Like I said, the right thing to do there is put the kid on first, advance the other runner and bring the next kid up to bat. Not to mention it wasn’t even a strike. Lol

He called strike three and never made an out sign, and even further, made a safe sign. The team deserves to lose for being bozos. Except that one kid that ran in because he was the only one paying attention

Agreed. I would repeat the safe signal a few times and yell safe multiple times. Would that be considered unfair though? You would have an even bigger **** show on your hands if you did that than what occurred.Like I said, the right thing to do there is put the kid on first, advance the other runner and bring the next kid up to bat. What's the rule about players and personnel entering the field of play during a live ball?

Not at all because you're communicating to everyone what the situation is so the players should know, the fans know, and most importantly -- your umpire partners know. But you don't need to verbalize it other than one 'no catch' as you're waving it safe.Agreed. I would repeat the safe signal a few times and yell safe multiple times. That one's a bit stickier. There's not a too many men on the ice type penalty but the only real penalty involved is if there's interference on a runner which could be as simple as being in the baseline and making the runner veer out of the way. If let's say a bench player had a glove on and he grabbed the ball and tagged a runner, he would be nailed for interference, the runner would get the base, and that bench player would be ejected. What's the rule about players and personnel entering the field of play during a live ball?

I think we can all agree that c2i is the type of guy to berate a high school baseball ump

I would never berate an official at a high school game for the same reason I would never berate a member of a restaurant staff. I used to be one. I know how much it sucks.

What, you didn’t relish hearing Joe Bumpkin think he had the call at 2nd from 200 ft away behind a fence better than you did standing 5 ft away? Crowds yapping is just entertaining background noise for me and the funny part is if you get close to them later, they won’t say a thing.I would never berate an official at a high school game for the same reason I would never berate a member of a restaurant staff. This is really good stuff. This was shortly after the dirty Utley slide that injured Tejada.

Yeah, Hallion was great there. He probably saved Collins from getting suspended tooGood job by the ump there, keeping calm and explaining things.

And I think that was the right call. Behind the back is over the line. I think if Thor would have brushed him back he would have gotten a warning.
