Question: Is/was Shaun White really that good? As a non-snowboarding bro, my opinion may be way off base, but he alway seemed to come up small on the big stage.
Yup. He was that good.

He had 3 gold medals between 2006 and 2022 Olympics, and the two events that he didn't medal in he took 4th. And he medaled in the X Games like a bajillion times. Took a gold in skateboard there too. He's the goat. For now at least, that Japanese kid is a stud

Never thought I'd see the day someone questioning Shaun White's career credentials.

That **** is still curling for us? I legitimately had enough time from his debut to learn how to curl and get better than him I think. If I knew he'd be around this long

Erin Jackson might have the best story of the Olympics so far. Just started ice skating 5 years ago and is now the 1st Black woman to win gold and 1st to win an Olympic medal.

Not only that but Shaun White was inventing new moves for practically every Olympics he was in. Literally no one else could do the tricks at the time.

Amazing that someone can smoke weed and be banned, but you have an athlete actively doping and the IOC goes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The IOC "sued" to have her ineligible too. It's the CAS that ruled in her favor because of her status as a "protected person" (minor) and that because of the timing of testing the A sample was delayed it didn't give her an adequate chance to get the B sample tested and used in her appeal.

I don't think the point of order here is the appeal procedure, it's that Russian athletes are competing at all in the first place. That's such a stain on the IOC; it doesn't make Russia look bad because the world already knows they're cheats.

If you let them compete at all, they have to be on the shortest of leashes. Someone tests positive? Aw, so sad, too bad; we've chartered five aircraft to take your entire delegation back home, and all your 2022 medals are vacated. You can appeal for reinstatement in 4 Olympiads.

Russian athletes aren't competing. Russian Olympic Committee athletes are. Big difference.

someone commented that the entire team looks like a group of dads escaped from the middle school PTA.

Matt Hamilton (Joe Dirt) has stated that he's going to donate the hair to a group that makes wigs for cancer kids.
besides, it makes him memorable which will likely get him a little money post-Olympics in public appearances.
