There's a lot of discussion about park-going and whatnot in a couple threads, thought I'd consolidate.

There's no way I'd spend thousands of dollars to spend a week in an amusement park. That is all.

I will take my daughter when she's old enough to enjoy and remember the trip. Should she like it enough to go back, we will.

I have co-workers that go yearly (some go multiple times a year). No thanks... we got Hershey, Delgroso's, Knobel's all right here in our back yard. Day trips are nice.

I’m sad Fast Passes are gone. I understood how those worked and could plan for it.
This Lightning Lane crap adds a whole new level of frustration the morning of.

I wouldn't, either.

Thankfully Disneyland and Disney World are theme parks, so we can avoid these unseemly entanglements.

This is my second favorite thread now, right behind the Star Wars thread.

I went once as a kid, barely remember it - so won't take our son until he's older so he can. Otherwise, I'll do it once, maybe twice. I have a person that goes like 2-3 times a year. Waste of money.

I went once as a kid. We stayed at fort wilderness in our camper during hurricane season. oddly enough a hurricane hit in the middle of the trip. so for one night we slept on the floor of the ballroom at the grand Floridian and ate free king sized candy bars provided by Disney. thanks Disney.

By the way, park hopping at Disneyland > park hopping at WDW. By a mile. Also, Disneyland has a better Pirates, Hunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Small World, and Big Thunder. The only ride I can think of that WDW does better is Splash Mountain.
*ahem*

The chief advantage of WDW is the sheer scale of it in comparison to Anaheim. WDW is expressed in square miles while Anaheim is measured in acres.

And yet Disneyland has more rides than Magic Kingdom with way less space. The best way to see the use of space is in Fantasyland where you can look in any direction and see the entrance to a different ride. Speaking of, I love those old dark rides in DL's Fantasyland. Give me that over 7 Dwarf's Mine Train any day.

Another tip is that there are some places in each park that allow you to order food by mobile order and a time period of usually 30 minutes to pick it up, but you can always push the time period back if you are running late. I used this for lunch everyday and it saved a ton of time

And you can move it up too. I was in the M&M Runaway Railroad line when the ride broke down and I was able to move it up to basically right away when I bailed out of line.

Not at all how i picture WK.... until this moment.

But for real, I can totally see how proper grown ups couldn't (it wouldn't want to) deal with Disney. Friends of ours are like full DISNEYPHILES, and i don't think i would like going to the park with them.

This is at least part of my Disney hate. My sister and BiL are insane Disney people to the point where my sister started as a travel agent part time for a Disney centric travel agency. They live in Central PA and pre COVID they had season passes. Every vacation is a Disney trip. MK, cruise, whatever, to the point of, except for the 95 corridor to get to Disney when they don’t fly, I feel like my nephews are growing up in a place where they haven’t seen any of the million other cool things that are out there.

Every time they go makes me a bigger anti-Disney-ite.

Now excuse me while I spend another weekend injecting ESPN programming into my veins.

I’m okay with Disney every 5 years or so. It’s simply too expensive for the return, IMO, and I can go pretty much anywhere on earth for less money and probably have a better time. Thankfully, my daughter hasn’t asked to return, and when she does, we’re definitely going to go with Disneyland the next time.

Yeah, I don't get the parents that only do Disney things. Tbh, it illustrates a complete lack of culture and personality to me, but just my opinion.

Part of the fun of doing Disney every four or five years is that it makes it extra special.

There are certainly factions of Disney folks. Disney fanatics, Disney neutral positive, Disney neutral negative, Disney haters.

I fall into the neutral positive faction. We love Disney+ (mostly so our daughter can watch the movies) and we’ll go some day, but we’re not going yearly. The psychos on both end make any discussions about Disney miserable.
