Hard to believe KFP is such a polarizing figure.

Steelers media coverage does not disappoint

It's just their business. Lots of people like one guy - how else are you gonna get clicks and listeners/engagement unless you go the other way on him?

Maybe I’m out of the loop here, but what’s polarizing about him? Is it play or personality? Both? I don’t know much about him.

It's the fact that a lot of Pitt fans like him. Nothing about KP himself is polarizing

Sounds like he played well, and we won the game. That’s all that matters.

I’ll be honest in the highlights KSPs arm strength looked below average

agreed. he may have been the least impressive qb of the night for the steelers. mostly quick 3-8 yard first reads. a decent 11 yard out and threw it a little deeper towards the end of the game. but his perfect accuracy on those quick hits was impressive over so many attempts. his mobility was a double edged sword and until the dive on that late game scramble his running was barely a net positive. good debut but trubisky looked great and mason put up the highlight toss

Meh...

Trubisky looked great. I think he has a chance to be very good in this type of offense with this type of support.

Kenny looked very good. I always thought arm strength might be an issue, but every rating I've seen has him as a plus arm strength. It doesn't pass the eye test, though. His accuracy is outstanding.

Mason may have had the highlight toss, but he also had by far the worst throw (that was an even worse decision) of the night that should've been a drive killing interception.

Trubisky's a pro and Kenny's a gamer. Both, to me, seem to be better than Mason...and I'm not sure it's even that close. We shall see, though.

Pickett doesn’t have a Herbert or Josh Allen arm. But he has zip on 10-15 yard passes which imo helps out quite a bit.

Who was each playing with and against vis-a-vis the team's depth charts?

IMO:

Mitch: de facto starter, has the experience, no-brainer for this year.
KSP: raw, 'good enough' now, probably will improve considerably.
Mason: Not as bad as I want him to be, very serviceable. But he's not a starter, and he's not the anointed one, so hopefully this is his last year here.

I'd start Mitch for the year. Have KSP as the reserve, soaking up the gametime routine. Around mid-year swap KSP and Mason on the depth chart. Mason is a UFA next year so there is no reason to invest anything in him. If he can be traded to the Jets or whoever and bring back a draft pick or fill a need, do it right now. Otherwise let him go at the end of the year.
Have a Mitch/KSP QB duel in camp next year and see where the chips fall. I assume Mitch is hoping to do really well this year and land a gig somewhere that they haven't just drafted a local boy in the first round.

Absolutely do not do the Landry Jones routine and keep Mason around in perpetuity. Just, no.

You have two sets I think... Penn State fans, but I think those will eventually let it go (most of it is because they hate pitt fans celebrating the KP pick).

Then you have the draftnicks who literally base the entire career of a player based on whether they "mocked" them on a message board. These guys live for the day 5 years from now saying "I would have taken this guy instead", as if any NFL team would want them near a draft board, nor does anyone friggan remember who picked who among a bunch of terrible cheesy steeler centric screennames like WattIsMyHomeboy, LeopardLaudermilk, FistOfClaypool or mikey

They didn't "mock" pickett - so they hate him and cheer for his demise.
