I'm a super-vigorous 'nope' on A.A. Ron Rodgers.
Do you strenuously object?

I'm already tired of hearing about Rodgers. Watching KC and Bills last night. This defense doesn't stop either of those guys, even with Watt/Heyward playing at their absolute best.

Rodgers doesn't really change anything about this team, imo. He's still getting hit in less than two seconds, the defense still is gonna have trouble stopping the run and the secondary is still very weak.

Finally, somebody gets it. The Steelers are not a 39 yo QB away from winning the SB. Why give up the farm to test that theory? ****, give the Steelers Mahomes and they still won't win it all. Their defense is butt, save for Heyward, Watt, and sometimes Fitzpatrick.

The stillers have been lapped by the Bills (even if they beat the bills in week 1 wiseguy ulf), the Chefs (not a typo) and perhaps even the Bungles. Rodgers isn't in the same class as Mahomes, Allen, or Burrow right now. He just can't physically do the things they do. Christ almighty Josh allen threw for 5 touchdowns and completed 80% of his passes when it was 7 degrees out last week.

There were 10,570 days between Terry Bradshaw's last appearance as a Stiller and Ben's first appearance as a stiller. The stillers are an afterthought until they find another guy like that.

The bills aren't **** to me until they win something. They could easily have a let down year after two straight back breaking playoff losses. It's the Chiefs and everyone else. Rodgers doesn't put the Steelers in the Chiefs tier, but he gives them a chance. Which, I'm cool with. But regardless I don't think he's worth the draft assets it'll take to get him, so moot point imo

I don't even think he gives them a chance given his now age, and his history of being mostly trash in the playoffs. He seems like the kind of guy, that's just going to fall off the edge when his legs go.

I don't want Rogers but you're assuming no upgrades to the O line.

I'm assuming upgrades, but nothing ground-breaking enough dramatically improve the offensive line, honestly. I think it'll be better next year, but still cause headaches - considering they have other holes that they need to address (MLB, CB, maybe DL, maybe WR).

A general observation that many folks are underestimating the impact of Tuitt and Alualu. It's obviously no guarantee they're both back and as effective as in the past, of course.

Oh and further eff you to Steelers player management. Melvin Ingram gets signed cause no one wanted him. He pouts like a baby, gets his trade wish, and is an impact player for the Chiefs.

Alalu said he wants to come back, but he's 35. Tomlin said he hadn't spoken to Tuitt/given his exit interview yet. That's not great at this point.

What do you do with Johnson? Is he worth anything on a team with no QB, and he could be a holdout risk with this being the last year on his contract and not paying anything.

Johnson should not get #1 money. If he wants it...franchise?

Dionte Dropsy can go elsewhere if he wants a big pay raise.

those defenses didnt stop anyone either. the steelers scored as many offensive touchdowns as the bears and panthers this season. who cares about the defense

I really don't want to get rid of Johnson. Without him...that's a big drop off in your WR corps. They have the cap room to franchise him, so to me it would be worth an extra year of tryouts, if you will, to show the Steelers you are #1 material. Thing is, if he has to play with Mason for all of next year as QB1, he may not be able to show what he's made of.

I think relative is the operable term for Johnson. He was good relative to the other guys on the team.
