GB score after the fumble got them from 21 to 28 pts, PIT ended with 25 on the day. That poss gave them their winning points.I don’t understand. They were down by 4 I think, driving in gb territory, then just gave the ball away on a second and short

The play I always remember is the Wallace drop/overthrow that sealed it.

This is hurting my brain trying to figure out the point you are making.
GB was up 21-3. Steelers came back, had the ball in the 4th quarter inside the 35, with all the momentum as GB hadn't done **** since late 2nd quarter. That Mendenhall fumbled totally flipped the momentum, and when GB scored that TD on the next drive, the game was over. So sure, the defense shouldn't have let up a TD, but the fumble was an unforced error and effectively lost them the game.

I think you two are saying the same thing.

The game was not over after GB scored that TD, there were still 12+ minutes to play or something like that. They did not really have any further chance to win Superb Owl XXX after the second O'Donnell pick.

I'm not talking about the TD hey gave up after the fumble, I'm talking about the 10-play drive they allowed on GB's next posses after that that included multiple 3rd dn plays of 20+ yds.So sure, the defense shouldn't have let up a TD, but the fumble was an unforced error and effectively lost them the game.

A friend walked to my apartment after this Owl. He was drunk and said, “I’m so sad right now, I don’t want to be alone.” That fumble was a gut punch for sure.

If you listen to Tomlin on the Pivot interview, I think it’s extremely hard to not like him as a coach and person. He’s made some mistakes for sure but we should be proud he’s the Steelers coach.

I hear lots of complaining about Tomlin ("clown coach"). What's behind that? Been here too long? Hasn't won anything recently? Something else?

Horrific clock management is my biggest beef.

cant manage the clock well?
my take on tomlin - he is an excellent leader of men. the players respect him and he manages the people very well. he is not the best in game tactician and i think this is why he gets a bad rap locally

That and not having a dedicated person to tell him whether to challenge or not. It’s a modern game, gotta keep up with the times. Having a person help with clock management/challenges is a no-brained and leads directly to wins.Horrific clock management is my biggest beef.
Other than those things the players seem to love him and he seems to get a lot out of make shift pieces.

All coaches get criticized, so I don't think I would read into that. And of course it's justified a lot, and also unjustified a lot of the times.
Crazy how with Broeth just now exiting, he's only now lost all Cowher hold-overs. very high chance they get mired in a period of mediocre irrelevancy for the next 3-5 years. I wonder what sort of leash he will have.

I’d say a lot rides on the QB situation. If MT gets a resurgence and becomes a decent QB or if Kenny develops into a legit starter the leash is long. All coaches get criticized, so I don't think I would read into that. And of course it's justified a lot, and also unjustified a lot of the times.

THat was an excellent interview - and his statements after that make total sense. He misunderstood the questioning thinking Brown wanted to come back, and they were talking about retiring a steeler.

Tomlin is a great coach IMO, but seems to be just an outstanding guy. Great motivator, kind of leader you want. Weirdly, he's a good balance of humble and arrogant. Not a great game day coach, but I don't think he's as bad as some make him out to be. It'll be interesting to see him without a franchise QB (I know, Pitt fans, I know) as he's always had Ben as a security blanket. I have a weird feeling that he'll actually be a bit better without that blanket, but time will tell.If you listen to Tomlin on the Pivot interview, I think it’s extremely hard to not like him as a coach and person. Also, as with Michel Therrien's rant, Tomlin will always be in my top 10 coaches across all sports for his 'Every day I walk past five Lombardi trophies, not five rushing titles.' mic drop on Fast Willie. Epic.
