Johnson is a perfect slot wide receiver (assuming he doesn't have the dropsies all the time)..he is not a #1 in any way shape or form.

A general observation that many folks are underestimating the impact of Tuitt and Alualu. It's obviously no guarantee they're both back and as effective as in the past, of course.
Which is why I saw maybe DL. I actually expect Tuitt to not come back, and Alualu is old. They're gonna need to start re-tooling there sooner than later.

I think some reporter mentioned it - but the week that DJ found out he didn't make pro-bowl was the week this all started. Probably coincidence, but I'm fine with gutting the WR core and starting over.

Claypool can't separate and makes 1 real combat catch like every other game. DJ isn't worth the money, imo. JuJu is probably out the door - but likely isn't worth the money he's gonna get.

I REALLY soured on Claypool after his Browns comment last year, and he just didn't change my mind throughout the year, he got worse.

Claypool could be a major weapon if he got his head on straight. He's a pretty rare combo of size and skill.

I'd like to see Claypool with a QB that can actually lead him downfield.

Could be - but I don't think his head is on right anymore. It's weird - and I don't know if this is like this in other places - but I suspect there is some tainted ego happening maybe passed down from Wallace/Brown era and all of the WRs have it to the degree that it impacts their performance.

I think maybe a new QB does improve Claypool's numbers, but he's not even really consistently jumping over anyone or making routine tough catches. He's just kind of there.

I'm with you on Claypool. I was really high on him til his shenanigans at the end of last season. He seemed to be an immature ass this season too, however I think Tomlin got to him the past couple games because he didnt give one first down signal, so maybe a message was received. Obviously all of the tools are there and I'd like to see him with a good QB. But I'm just not optimistic. Diontae is an all world talent that is just mentally weak unfortunately. Once he drops one he basically goes into yips mode. I don't know how to feel about it. When he's on, he's almost AB good with his route running, speed and hands. But when he's not on, he loses games

DJ is afraid to go across the middle. Most of his dropsies are when he feels he’s gonna get whacked. He has the talent to be an amazing slot guy but you need to have balls in that position

He's a bit of a diva, sure, but aren't most WRs? I don't think saying he can't get separation is fair because even when he did, he had to slow way down and come back to an under thrown ball. I can't remember Ben hitting a go route in stride once all year.

Well, there are different degrees to separation. I think go-route separation is much different than slant or short/mid-yard separation. He's huge, and if he's not pushing off, he's not getting any type of leeway from anyone.

I think that's what bugs me the most about Canada's offense and not adjusting to the guys. Prior to Canada - I remember really close slants that sometimes were called pick play penalties. Those are some of the quickest routes that helped create separation, and I honestly can't recall that happening much with this offense/Canada's playcalls.

Those worked too, JuJu and DJ took those to the house and got big gains, IIRC.

You have to wonder if Johnson's issues are weather related. If so, get that man some Isotoners.

And I'm with nocera on the WR situation. You almost have to give them a pass on this year, as you had a crappy o-line and QB. Drops and stupid shenanigans are not excused, but I think the WR position can almost work itself out.

Get rid of Washington though, he and Rudolph have had their chance to show their stuff. They ain't all that.

Washington oddly enough felt like the guy who stuck out when it came to making hard catches, but yea - he doesn't really bring much all to the table in this offense, pre-post Canada.

I sorta feel like yinzer fans are the only people really discussing Rodgers and the Steelers together.

Which is why the slants/pick plays not happening as much kind of irked me. I'd rather they do that, than run backward passes and lose yards.
