I guess Redskins' fans should drink beer based on their QB roster.

Too bad. I liked their beer, even if many other local breweries eventually surpassed them in regards to quality of beer. They were one of the first local microbreweries to make anything of significance. I also used to live 5 minutes away and loved to go there and get a mixed case of beer at any time.

There is an over saturation of micro-breweries in the region. Everywhere. There will be a significant contraction in the number in operation over the next few years. The bad thing is that there are a few still under construction right now.
I am a bit surprised that Full Pint is one of the first to go under though.

Agreed on all accounts Jim. In the article the owner basically said he was good at making beer, not good at being a businessman.
It will be interesting to see what comes out of the market when things start to wane. Will good beer makers be bought by good businessmen that keep the recipes, or will everything be consolidated into similar recipes/processes to save money?

Going back and re-reading it, it sounds like there's a small chance that they could reopen and that one of the partners may be part of it.
But like Jim said, I think there's going to be some downsizing of breweries once we get to the other side of this mess.

We had two like that in town. One with a great product and building but no cash or business acumen. And another with a group of the movers and shakers in town and just tried to hop into the trend without a good product. A shame they couldn't have just gotten together and opened one place. Both closed now

There are 30 or so in pittsburgh. All of them have the same vibe and charge roughly the same prices. How many of them are actually worth the price? Not many

There are considerably more than 30. Well, maybe if you are talking about in the city limits proper... leaving out places like Full Pint, Dancing Gnome, Inner Groove, Grist House, Abjuration, Hitchhicker (both), Insurrection, Spoonwood, etc. You are around 50 in Allegheny County, and over 80 if you go outwards even just a little more north to like Shubrew/Missing Links and east to Fury/All Saints.

Yeah, my drinking has definitely gone up. Not getting drunk every night by any stretch, but definitely anywhere from 2 to 4 drinks a night.

I'm slowly running out of the Guinness case we bought for what would have been a St Patrick's party (that no one came to)

Speaking of beers, had a fantastic dry hopped sour ale from Grimm last night called Telekenesis. Mosaic, Citra, and Falconer's Flight.

Yes! Love everything Grimm makes. That's a good one

I can't recall ever having a beer from them that wasn't good, and they are usually great.

Ordered beer from the best brewery in Central Pa. They're out of Lewistown and make trips to State College every Thursday and Saturday for deliveries. I'm excited to have some of their beer in the fridge.
They also had a cool "Pint it forward" promotion. Essentially you buy one, two, or three pints for health care workers and they'll deliver the beer to their house, and you get a pint when they open back up for the public to come drink. I bought two and my wife and I will be visiting soon after they open back up.
