Had a couple of really tasty ones over the weekend:

Masthead's Sleigh All Day: Such a great change from a traditional holiday beer. It wasn't the super spiced stuff. It was a great red/amber beer that was hopped like an IPA and also included spruce tips. Reminded me of back in the dank/piney days of IPAs when you'd get one that was just perfectly balanced. It didn't have the tropical/fruity notes of today's IPAs.

Sibling Revelry's Holiday Blend: I think it was a brown ale, but it had coffee and spices in it. I think it was my least favorite of the weekend, but still quite good.

Rhinegeist's Dad: Pretty much a copy of Sleigh All Day, but not as well done, and didn't have the spruce tips.

Fat Head's Pimp My Sleigh: Love me a dark belgian during the winter months, and this certainly fits the bill. Delicious.

Speaking of Fat Heads, have you ever done a tour of the brewery @count2infinity ? We had lunch with our family right across the street from the brewery, and if we were in town any longer I would have considered a tour. Now that I know where it is, may have to make a weekend out of it.

Of the new brewery in Middleburg Heights? No. It has a guided walking tour that you can check out the facility on your own. After you've seen one brewery of that size, you've seen them all. I doubt they're doing anything super innovative there that I've never heard of or seen before.

That was the one. Maybe I'll pass on it then. I drink more Great Lakes so that will be the one to do if in the area.

I had a "Heaven and Hell":

1/2 World Wide Stout
1/2 120 Minute

Real good but hit real hard about 3/4 of the way through

When I go to movie theaters that allow you to take in beer, I sneak in a World Wide or two, buy a Guinness, chug that and then drink the WWS during the movie.

Why the need to buy and chug a guinness?

@Guinness

That way you have the theater's beer glass... and they already expect to see a dark beer in it.

Why do seasonal beers taste better in their season? Is it

Actually the weather
The fact that it's been a year since you had it so you aren't currently sick of it
Your brain telling you it's time to enjoy this specific beer

I haven't had a drop of beer or anything else for that matter in almost three weeks, since before I got that nasty head cold. I've just had no desire to drink anything since then. It's simultaneously a blessing and a curse.

Had a mini trappist sampling last weekend with some beers my buddy ordered from a shop in Belgium.

The best by far was the English one, Tynt Meadow. It was almost like a Barleywine... Very good. I recommend trying it should you ever encounter it.

Achel Blond Extra was very good as well. The Bruin Extra is a slight step down, but still tasty.

The other 2 were ok, but not worth the trouble of importing...

Zundert 10. It was a solid quad, but so many better ones you can buy here already.

Tres Fontaine Scala Coeli... Supposedly means Stairway to Heaven... Hopefully not because it was pretty okay, at best.

Working my way through the new craze of low cal/ low alcohol beers. So far:

Stone Never ending haze> DFH slightly mighty> Harpoon rec league> southern tier swipe light

But they’re all good and worth it over other light options.

I didn’t include seventh son’s miracle because it’s not available outside Ohio, but it’s a great beer too. Probably top of the list.

I tried Canadian Breakfast Stout from Founders for the first time last night. Um....wow. That is incredible. I think I might like it better than KBS.

11th Hour has a breakfast maple stout on tap right now. Not barrel aging though.

Picked this up in Louisville awhile back. Good strong stuff from the -uh- creative guys at Against the Grain.

Should knock me out before the Ducks polish us off.

My wife got her hands on Asterisk Imperial IPA from Melvin Brewing in Wyoming. No idea how she found this, but holy sht is it fantastic. Instantly jumps to the Top 3 of my Imperial IPA rankings.
