The local gas station was running a special that if you bought $30 worth of gas you got a 12 pack of Miller High Lifef for six bucks.

BEER
Ah yes, was meaning to post in here.
Last weekend, I tried some Berliner Weisses from Wild Barrel. AIUI, started by a former Stone Employee.
All called San Diego Vice with a different fruit.
Pink Guava, Black Currant, Passion Fruit, and Mango.
The guava and currant were a step above the other 2, but were all enjoyable.
I found them to be more tart than sour, but this made them rather crushable, imo.

Just enjoyed a really nice smoke beer.... Schlenkerla Marzen
BEER
Had Apple Brandy Paradise and Apple Brandy Bomb from Prairie Artisan Ales this weekend. Paradise is a stout with vanilla and coconut that’s aged in Apple brandy barrels, and Bomb is a stout aged with coffee, vanilla, chili peppers and chocolate in Apple Brandy Barrels. Both were awesome. Paradise was out of this world good.

I'm somewhat irritated that no one ever asked him what the beer of choice was. Of course, back in 1982 the selection would have been pretty limited.

This hasn’t been done in a while, and the pgh brewery scene is pretty robust, so i am requesting that the posters of this fine website give their personal opinion on the best breweries in pgh at the moment.

Brew Gentlemen
Roundabout
Voodoo (anxious to see what comes from sour program)
----decent margin----
Dancing Gnome (higher if you like just IPA)
Grist (all around solid, branching out a bit more lately)
Insurrection/Cellar Works/Cinderlands (combination of good stuff and decent ambition = promise)
Strange Roots (haven't visited since rebrand, hope it allows these guys to rebound a bit)
Hitchhiker (sigh, few good IPAs but overall unproficient trend-chasers)
East End/Helltown/Hop Farm (meh)
Haven't really had enough from the rest to say. Fury and Yellow Bridge seem about the same from the few I've had. ShuBrew seems a bit above those.

Our local beer distributor (which I've raved about on here for their insanely high-quality selection given our rural location) had a Voodoo variety pack. My first impression was that it seemed way too expensive vs. other high-quality breweries. My second impression was that every single beer was over 8%. Is that what they are known for or maybe I just bought a heavy pack?

I wouldn’t say there’s really a connection there when it comes to their distributed stuff. Then again, I don’t really care for voodoo’s distributed bottle offerings, so I’m not paying close attention. They have a world class barrel program, make great stouts, offer some very good draft/can ipa, and have a wide range of decent to good other stuff. Other than BBVD and fresh good vibes, their bottled stuff is kind of meh.Our local beer distributor (which I've raved about on here for their insanely high-quality selection given our rural location) had a Voodoo variety pack. I haven't had much from local breweries of late, but speaking of Strange Roots, this year's Plague release is on Saturday. I'm pretty fired up for that.
