BEER

Postby eddy » Mon Oct 19, 2020 3:27 pm

Went to Harper's Ferry brewing this weekend. (very tip top of Northern VA, right where VA, WV, MD all meet) Amazing view's from the outside, overlooks the Potomac. Solid beers.
Is that new? I was there last year and don't remember it at all. The real hit of HF is the john brown wax museum

I don't know how new they are, but they are up with the Adventure Center above the bridge. LOTs of outdoor seating with different views. Mostly the bridge or up river. This is from the site it is upriver.

The hill on the left is Virginia, the hill on the right is Maryland, the buildings straight forward are West Virginia.

Not sure how I missed this, but will be going back soon. We had a blast visiting and hiking. Thanks for the heads up

Oh wow! So Half Time Beverage is a big beer store that is near my inlaws house in Poughkeepsie. I usually get a gift card for their store every Christmas. I believe they have a second location in Mamaroneck (Westchester County). Cool to see them get some national recognition.

Yes. And still only distributing General Braddock's in Pgh. But I wouldn't be surprised to see both things change in 2021.

GL Christmas Ale is quite good this year as is Sierra Nevada's Celebration Ale and New Belgium's Snow Accumulation.

I got some Mad Elf and some Evil Genius's "Santa! I know him!" saison at home waiting for me. I really love winter for beer variety.

They had Mad Elf in cans at GE. Currently rocking that in the fridge.

I saw that. Only had them in 12 packs, and I barely get through a 6 pack in the winter. That stuff puts you on your ass quick fast and in a hurry.

Eggzacly

I did share though. The bottles are good to keep for long term storage, but had to try the cans.

Speaking of Mad Elf, if you haven't tried the Grand Cru, get yourself a bottle. The cherry is dialed up and there are some additional spices, and it is goddamn tasty.

Yes, yes it is. One of my favorite winter sippers. Like a Delirium Nocturmum with cherries and cloves. Just make sure you have someone to share it with.

That's probably one of my favorite winter beers too. Problem is I can never find it regularly. Last winter I couldn't find it anywhere, but the winter prior a bunch of places had it on tap.

I just moved to Hatfield, PA and was able to find a distributor that had a full case of it. I've already drank about half of it. They also had Mad Elf and some other Winter beers.

So, uhhh... I picked up a 12 pack of Genesee Schwarzbier on a whim as it was only $7.50 and I was intrigued.

Wow. Impressive offering considering the price tag.

This isn’t going to crack the top 5 schwarzbeirs I’ve ever had, but g’damn. At $7.50 a 12 pack, this is a must have.
